I visited this museum today and found it to be sub-standard. It is located in a beautiful building, but the building is a large glass cube and even though there were some shades hung to try to decrease the reflection, it was impossible to view the photographs without distracting glare.

It is a very small museum and the current special exhibition highlighted Frida Kahlo, but as it turned out it was not her work, but photographs of her, some with Diego Riviera.

“Dont waste your time!”
Reviewed August 8, 2013

I went with my college age daughter who loves photography and expected a lot more than we saw. Was hoping to see a broader spectrum of artists and photo's.

“Small, but well done”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

Great space! This is on the second and third floors of an office building; there is a yummy cafe in the lobby with lots of seating. The exhibits change, but they and the exhibit notes are good and usually offer a serious look into their topic. The galleries themselves are very nice and provide a good atmosphere in which to view the photos. MOPA has an extensive library of books relating to photography for visitors to read, along with inviting spaces to sit in or listen to presentations. Racing through, one could see everything in less than 30 minutes, or, going at a more leisurely, though not scholarly pace, see everything in about an hour since the number of galleries is not overwhelming.
