This was an amazing find. If you are in Tampa you should come here on a Sunday for their market. The market has the best Thai food I have ever had. I loved the Pumpkin Curry. This is a must have. Other favorites included the egg rolls, coconut custards and sweet bean "empanadas" (for lack of a better word).

My wife and I go to the temple nearly every Sunday with our children. The setting is beautiful and serene. The food is delicious and cheap averaging 5 - 7 dollars per dish. The beef noodle soup is delicious. The curries and rice are also good but they definitely tone the spice down so it is more palatable to a larger audience. I recommend getting there early before the lines start to get real long. Try the beef noodle soup, larb gai and mango sticky rice (when in season). If you have time pre-order some coconut custards which will take about 45 minutes until you get your order and while you wait go check out the Buddhist temple.

Wow. What an awesome find! This Thai temple holds services at 1pm on Sundays. Prior to that, starting at 10am, they get together to serve authentic Thai food as a fundraiser in seperate outdoor stalls next to the temple. Most dishes cost a $5 donation. They have curry dishes, noodle soup, summer rolls, a variety of desserts, teas, juices, etc. Plenty of picnic tables line the river beneath the shade of mature trees. Dogs are allowed outside. If you want to step inside the temple to just look around or to attend their service, I would brush up on Thai ettiquite before you go - it's on their website at http://wattampainenglish.com/temple-etiquette.html This was a great experience. I highly recommend it. I also would like to echo the past reviewers - it's best to go early.

only open with food vendors on sundays, it is a long wait til the end of the week. multiple food stands, all very well priced, and all with so very helpful staff and volunteers. the soup is excellent - but the wait can be prohibitive. they have expanded their curry selection: the larb gai and the pork prik king are excellent, as is the red pumpkin and chicken curry. also available is a grilled meats stand with skewers of marinated and grilled chicken, beef, pork - what have you. as much as i love green papaya salad, though, this is one of my least favorite items to get at the thai temple as it is often overly sweet without spice or much fish sauce (this i would rather just make at home). for desserts, they have tables of options. also very popular (though i am not a fan of them) are the little green onion custards. it's a very inexpensive brunch, and all the money is donated to the temple - you can see the effects of the donations by the recently constructed sea wall to keep kiddos from falling into the river.

Super authentic thai food, very cheap, very friendly people, excellent view of the river, beautiful temple to see, and delicious thai tea for $1! Make sure to get there right at 10am as they run out of food early, and the lines get pretty long. Also don't miss out on the soup!
