“Great Italian Food Off the Beaten Trail”
Reviewed June 16, 2012

I had dinner at Gio's with my husband and another couple who live in the Tampa area. We found the restaurant through Alaska Airlines restaurant guide where you earn air miles for every dollar spent and thought we would give it a try. The restaurant is in a strip mall but because the airlines recommended it, we knew it was worth checking out and we loved the place. Our server, Javier, was very friendly and helpful in making menu suggestions and he recommended their fish special, Corvina fish with lobster sauce, crabmeat and it was outstanding; the fish was fresh, moist and very tasty. The lasagna which our friends ordered was the best they've ever had and my husband ordered the fruitte de mare with the aribiatta sauce and he loved his dish as well. Javier's recommendation for the Limoncello cake was the perfect ending to a perfect meal.

When in Tampa again, we will definitely visit this restaurant for an encore meal.

“hidden jewel”
Reviewed May 11, 2012

This little italian restaurant has been in Tampa for 11 years and I only just found it...what a shame! It has a European feel to it - small and elegant - and our waiter had a strong Italian accent, which gave an air of authenticity to the experience. The food was delicious (I had a thick slice of corvina -a mild fish similar to snapper - in lemon sauce and my friend had filet mignon in a brandy sauce). The side veggies were fresh and crisp and their house salad with gorgonzola and mozzarella cheese was yummmm! The restaurant is not visible from the road (corner of Dale Mabry and Waters) but the fact that it has been there for 11 years means someone knows about it. We had an early dinner on a Thurs and there were only 4 other tables in use. We will certainly return.

“Fantastic!”
Reviewed October 31, 2011

This out of the way intimate restaurant is truly a find. Everything about Gio's is superb. The food, the waiters and the atmosphere remind you of a great New York or Boston fine Italian restaurant. We have enjoyed their menu and nightly specials for several years and everything has been delicious. Gio's is treasure to experience in Tampa.
