Recently stayed here on a business trip. I don't use Marriott very often, but was pleasantly surprised, even received a room upgrade. The rooms were nice with a very nice lobby area. A lot of setting and room to work or meet with clients. The pool area was also nice and the room had a great view.

I recently spent 4 nights attending a conference at this hotel and had breakfast in the concierge lounge 3 of the mornings. The attendant on duty; Mr. Fuller, was exceptional. He always welcomed you with a smile along with his good morning while constantly policing the service area and tables and politely would asked if there was anything else I might need. He was never intrusive, as mornings can be challenging enough depending on your day ahead, but omnipresent to assist in any way he can. A real class act!

Room Tip: Great location, close to airport along with a water view of the river.

Recently, I stayed here for business. I brought my family along for their pleasure. The hotel is very nice, clean and elegantly appointed. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The pool was nice, although a bit cold in November. The food at the restaurant was better than expected, the Ybor breakfast was great. The reception at the front desk was fantastic. They really did a good job taking care of my family. The point off is for bring charged for wifi. I have stayed in lesser accommodations and been given free wifi. This seems like a misconceived idea to generate extra revenue.

I'm a Tampanian, in fact, I live a mere 1.5 miles from this hotel. But every now and again I like to stay in a local hotel and see Tampa from a different perspective. I've been to the hotel pool and restaurants on many occasions, but this was my first actual stay. Frankly, I like almost everything about this hotel. Even from the initial check-in, which is usually fraught with delays, the process was smooth. The young lady who checked me in (Colleen or Connie?) was awesome. Friendly and personable, she actually listened to what I said before responding. All too often personnel are too scripted and don't really listen to what is being said. Long story short, my initial check-in experience set the tone for my stay which was excellent.

The only negative thing I can say about this hotel is the food service. It takes forever to be seen by the wait staff, it seems like they are very short staffed in that area.

I'd like to make you aware of the fact that Carl Fuller makes the concierge lounge the most comfortable, clean, efficient and accommodating lounge that I've ever been in at a Marriott property! He goes out of his way to provide items that aren't standardly supplied in the lounge - such as a special tea. There is never a table left messy or a serving platter left empty which is extraordinary in light of how busy the lounge can be especially during breakfast. Most importantly, he greets guests by name and always wishes you a beautiful day and safe travels.

Room Tip: Rooms on the waterfront have a balcony with a quiet, peaceful view.
