Tampa has a number of good, upscale restaurants, such as Bern's Steakhouse and The Columbia Restaurant. The Taco Bus is the other end of the fanciness spectrum, but the food is every bit as good. Having lived in Mexico for a year, I am often horrified by what passes as Mexican food in the US (Moe's?!?). The Taco Bus is the real deal. The food here is Mexican street food flavor with US health standards and meat quality. Everything is freshly prepared, they use no canned sauces, prepared chicken stock or lard. Each order is cooked when you order it (in the bus) and can be almost infinitely customized. Although I am a meat lover, my wife is an almost vegan, and the Taco Bus has a bunch of vegetarian and vegan options. Prices are a little higher than legit street food (about $8-10/pp including drink) but it is well worth it. If you are coming to Tampa, don't miss the Taco Bus.

Fresh and delicious!!
The restaurant was VERY clean, and the workers were friendly and helpful.
I have also eaten at the new location on Fletcher Avenue, and it is great, too!
WARNING! Gets crowded at lunch!!!

If you like a place with GOOD Mexican food, this is the place. I saw them in the Food Channel and they really deserved the recognition. Open 24/7, you can't go wrong. We go often.

All my friends gave alot of hype on this place and honestly it wasn't that great. Food wasn't hot and it was out of a bus.

Is it a food truck? Is it a restaurant? The answer is yes. You order from a bus under an overhang. You sit under a shelter or in a building. The menu is diverse for carnivores and vegetarians alike... I recommend the BURRITO PREÑADO with COCHINITA PIBIL which is described as Shredded pork marinated in achiote and bitter orange, then wrapped in banana leavesand slow roasted in a smoker.(BASED ON A 5,000 YEAR OLD MAYAN RECIPE!).

5000 years or not it was awesome... I wanted to sample it so my burrito had Carne Esada and I had a taco with the pork.... If I only knew... Skip the steak go for the pork WOW it was flavorful, tasty, yummy or whatever word you choose.... IT was wonderful! Oh and try the Agua de sandía (watermelon water) it's refreshing! Well worth the time to wait in line!
