This is a lovely place to start your visit to Tampa. Loved that it was small and sweet over 3 floors with seasonal exhibits like the LEGO exhibit on the top floor.

Impressive elevator – the largest one we’ve ever seen in our lives! You could fit a truck in there!

Liked that it didn’t go on and on. I mean on vacation who has a whole day to spend at a museum anyway.

Great section on maps. Nice intro to everything Tampa ...sports, festivals, citrus, ranching, cigars, transport, etcetera...it’s all there and nicely laid out with lots of room to maneuver.

Loved the Treasure Seekers exhibit with the shipwrecks and pirates displays which seemed to be the most popular. And clearly the kids enjoy it a lot too!

Neat little gift shop too that sold locally made products. I got soaps, candles and sweets as perfect little souvenirs of our visit to Tampa and the History Center.
The famous Columbia Restaurant has a branch at the reception level. After your visit do stop there for a drink and bite. And yes, they do serve beers even if they don’t have a beer menu! Their white chocolate bread pudding was to die for!

Note: you cannot bring large bags into the museum but they’re happy to hold it for you at the front desk.

And do make sure to check out the observation deck where you get great views over the islands, harbour and downtown Tampa and you can clearly see the cruise ships docked from up there!

Unexpectedly well done museum. Three floors of permanent and changing exhibits. Wonderful movies about history, very tastefully done. Also a great addition is the famous local restaurant on site, serving local fare, rather some generic snack bar. Lovely location on the water. Every city should have such a fine local history museum.

This is a very well done museum highlighting the history of Tampa and Florida at large. Elaborate and extensive displays and interactive video presentations add to the overall experience. Lots of great information is contained in the displays. Allow about 2- 2.5 hours tol thoroughly enjoy. Don't miss the Columbia Cafe included inside the museum. Locals, look for free museum passes at your local library!

The only negative was the lack of free and close parking. Valet at the museum was $10.

Enjoyed the Center. Lots of interesting exhibits (i.e., Indians and Pirates) and easy to explore on your own.
