“A real treasure”

We've been to the Tampa Bay History Center twice and both times have come away highly impressed. There are a couple 15 minute films that do a great job of portraying the arrival of the Spanish to the Tampa area and also the Seminole Indian Wars. Very informative. There are also exhibits and stories about the role of immigrants...Cuban, Spanish, Italian, etc. on the early history of the area. Would highly recommend it.

“History presented in an exciting way!”
Reviewed March 2, 2012

Tampa Bay History Center is a beautiful facility using movies, intereactive exhibits, and traditional museum exhibits to tell the story of the area. Appreciated the attention to details. Friendly, helpful staff. Really enjoyed the afternoon. Heard the restaurant is excellent, but didn't try it this time.

“Not your grandma's history!”
Reviewed February 28, 2012

Beautiful building in a most interesting part of Tampa, the Channel district, right where it meets up with Harbor Island and Downtown. This is ideal if you're out walking or bike riding, or are relying on local 'STREET CAR" transportation. The food is pretty good inside at the famous Columbia Restaurant concession. This is NOT a museum for a day trip, not even a half day trip. Its something to see to go-inside an be in air conditioning for maybe 2 hours, cool off on a hot day, while waiting to enjoy channelside or waiting on an event nearby. The history is more about cowboys, horses and such, not about all the other things you'd have guessed: cigars, cuba, italians, sports, jai alai, racing, tobacco, minerals, fishing, explorers Like: DeSota, and so on. I rated it 'average' because the experience is just about 'average'. I better enjoyed the history and art outdoors, vs, what a paid ticket lets you see inside.
