Famous, gorgeous bridge heading into/out of the St Pete/Tampa area, and connecting the area with the south (Bradenton, Ellenton and Sarasota and beyond). I would also take I-75 and rarely take I-275 which is what this lies on, so it was always a treat to go this route.
This bridge has been in numerous big budget films, is apparently the second most 'jumped off/suicide attempt' bridge after the Golden Gate, and is truly stunning.
They have subsidiary fishing piers on both sides. I agree it is too pretty a bridge to appreciate when driving over, then again what else is it for?
There is a toll fee, and there is NOWHERE to turn around. It warns you, but unless you plan on going over and not turning round for a while, dont bother heading that way.
