Description: Enjoy waterfront drinks, tapas and our delicious Spanish/Cuban cuisine at the Columbia Cafe in the Tampa Bay History Center on the Tampa Riverwalk. The Cafe proudly serves locally brewed craft beers on tap. We offer a full bar, and serve lunch and dinner daily. Live music Friday and Saturday nights on our outdoor, canopy covered waterfront patio bar. Located next to the Amalie Arena, and walking distance along the Tampa Riverwalk from the Marriott Waterside Hotel, Embassy Suites, the Florida Aquarium and the Tampa Convention Center. Casual attire is fine, but we don't allow sleeveless shirts on men. Guests can dine inside at a scaled-down version of the original mahogany bar at our sister restaurant, the Columbia in Tampa's historic Ybor City, built more than a century ago in 1905 by the Brunswick Company. If you're boating, we invite you to dock at Garrison Channel outside the Tampa Bay History Center at one of eight tie-ups.

“An Enjoyable Lunch”

We were visiting the Tampa History Center so decided to try this Columbia restaurant/cafe on the 2nd floor. We've eaten at several of the Columbia restaurants over the years, including when they were in the St Pete Pier, and at the Tampa and St. Armand's key locations. Honestly, overall, I thought the food tasted better here than any of the other locations. The bread, the soup, the Cuban sandwiches were all very good. It's a small area; the table wasn't too clean, and the staff seemed a bit rushed, but overall, the food was worth the visit.

“nice lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2013

Tampa was being swamped with rain and this café was inside the museum we were visiting. Both of our meals were very tasty, service was quick and friendly. If you are visiting the history museum and get hungry, give this place a try.

“Great lunch spot”

Great location, right on the river, in the museum lobby. The service was fairly good, the food very good. Good place for traditional Cuban sandwich.

“Reasonable for the area”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 26, 2013 via mobile

The convention center area is so poorly populated with restaurants. There are a few but they are extremely expensive. This one is on the history center and is more like a quick lunch place. I got the Cuban sandwich and it was good and came with fried plantains. It was filling and at about 8 bucks one of the most reasonable in the immediate area.

“All around perfect”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2013

Spanish bean soup is the best ever. I had the meatloaf sandwich and it was excellent. Wife had 1905 salad and half cuban sandwich. Service and atmosphere were unbeatable, just a great place on the boardwalk. There is not match for the columbia, we've eaten at the one in Eybor several times and the food/service have been second to none.
