It can be hard to find a good place to walk in Tampa... the city often shows up on lists of the "worst cities for bikers and pedestrians." When I go walking I will drive out to the preserves along the Hillsborough River, but when I have less time I go to Al Lopez. The paved loop is not especially scenic, but doing a few laps will put a few miles under your belt. I highly recommend the north loop, which circles around a small lake. It is a slice of nature right in the city.
