“Off the beaten path.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2013 via mobile

Truly off the beaten path. The road to the rescue was a single lane dirt road. BUT the experience was great. We went on the Saturday morning children under 10 tour and it didn't disappoint my 8 yr old. I would have liked to see a few more big cats but overall interesting and informative. Would like to attend the photographers tour to get a bit more detail. Will go again. A good cause and very interesting.

“Amazing Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2013

Be sure to take an afternoon while in Tampa Bay to visit this hidden gem and to do one of the daily afternoon guided tours. It will be one of the best places you visit in Tampa I assure you. You will see more large wild cats up very close of so many varying breeds (lions, panthers, bobcats, lynxes, leopards, sand cats, tigers, and on and on....) all in well kept habitats (catitats). The tour is about 90min guided by knowledgeable and trained volunteers, and will take you through the sanctuary on foot to view and learn about dozens and dozens of the big cats. You will also learn how the cats have been saved from abuse and abandonment, find out how they are given the care and shelter they deserve and why this sanctuary is such a special and important place. It's kind of hidden away in northwest Tampa suburb of Citrus Park. But well worth seeking out. You will want to go back and visit again.

I love cats. Especially big cats. I have been to Big Cat Rescue a few times as a chaperone on school field trips. There are so many cats with the most interesting stories, unfortunately most are sad. But, when you see how the cats are being taken care of at Big Cat Rescue, with the toys and natural as possible habitats, you start to feel less sorry for them. Go visit snd sign up for the news letter, which updates you with the progress of the cats. It is worth the money and you are helping the cats at the same time.

“Good place to check out”

Nice to see a place that rescue's big cats that otherwise would be killed. Tours take about an hour. Animals seem well cared for. Currently expanding Habitat for cats.

“Great to visit, especially for ladies & the kids”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

There was a guided tour throughout the grounds, pointing out & giving background on the "cats". My teenage boy was a little bored, but the girls in the group enjoyed the visit. It was a good trip - not an all day thing.
