Owner description: Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo is home to more than 1300 animals and famous for having one of the most beautiful, tropical zoological settings in the world. The Zoo brings together animals and visitors to create unforgettable, natural connections. Guests get closer to wildlife than ever before by touching a giant tortoise, feeding a giraffe, getting nose-to-horn with an Indian rhino, hand-to-fin with slippery stingrays and more! Families can also splash in water play areas, feel thrills on rides and take in educational shows. Love manatees? The Zoo is the only place in Tampa where guests can see Florida manatees year round. At the David A. Straz Jr. Manatee Hospital, the Zoo’s veterinary and animal-care staff treat sick, injured and orphaned manatees, and return them to the wild after rehabilitation. The Zoo also cares for the most diverse group of Florida wildlife anywhere, and has won numerous awards for animal preservation.

This zoo is one of the best we have been to. The animals are in clean habitats and look well cared for. The zoo sure has grown since the last time we were here. The Manatees were our favorite. There was a baby manatee swimming along with its mother. It was very sweet.

We spent a Saturday here and loved every minute of it. Great for the family and very tranquil. Also has a little theme park inside the Zoo which is a great plus. I also saw a birthday party in the theme park and just makes it a more family friendly place.

This zoo was unbelievable. We got to pet sting rays, feed birds, feed a giraffe, and even watch an elephant take a bath. They had a stroller rental, which was very convenient. There was never a walking distance without seeing an animal and they also had roller coasters and water rides for the kids. It was very hot when we visited, so the water fountain play area came in really handy with the kids. If you are going in the summer, wear your swim suits! We also got cur kids some really cheap toys at the gift shop when we left. Speaking of cheap, we were able to get our entire family of six in the doors for the price it would take one of us to get into a disney park. GREAT zoo! Don't let the shady neighborhood scare you, it is definitely definitely worth the trip!

I looked online and could not find any coupons, so I called and was very rudely told that I could only find one, and it was in the newspaper a few weeks back. We arrive at the zoo and are in line to pay and a lady walks around (zoo employee) handing out admission coupons. So now I'm annoyed that the lady on the phone was not only rude but lied, and then I'm wondering why you would offer a coupon to people already in line expecting to pay full price?

The zoo was nice but expensive. On top of admission, we had to pay for anything appealing to the children. To feed the giraffe, it is $2 a cracker. The little train that takes you in a circle, $3. We spent so much on all the extras is was silly. But how do you take your child to the zoo for their birthday and then tell them they can't do anything?

The splash area was great and our kids really enjoyed it. Very refreshing on a hot day.

We visited this zoo in April and really enjoyed ourselves. It was only 20$each and we were there for about 4 hours. The penguins were very cute, the alligators were awesome and the size of the zoo was just right. This was the highlight of our holiday in Tampa. We stayed in Tampa Bay so were a bit put off by the long drive (and expense) of seaworld. This was a great option which we would recommend highly!
