My husband and I visited the zoo during a weekend trip. I was surprised that it wasn't overwhelmingly busy, but that really made the difference in our visit. We weren't fighting the crowds to get close and see the animals. My only complaint is the zoo recycles paper goods and other items as toys, etc. for the animals. Although it is probably a great idea for the environment, there comes a time when items have been played with enough and it just looks like trash. Some of the exhibits needed a good cleaning. However, there is a wide variety of animals and plenty of opportunities to learn something new. TIP! There is a $3 off coupon in the Tampa travel booklets and there is even a stack of them just outside the zoo gate near the exit. Grab one and save a few dollars!
