Owner description: Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo is home to more than 1300 animals and famous for having one of the most beautiful, tropical zoological settings in the world. The Zoo brings together animals and visitors to create unforgettable, natural connections. Guests get closer to wildlife than ever before by touching a giant tortoise, feeding a giraffe, getting nose-to-horn with an Indian rhino, hand-to-fin with slippery stingrays and more! Families can also splash in water play areas, feel thrills on rides and take in educational shows. Love manatees? The Zoo is the only place in Tampa where guests can see Florida manatees year round. At the David A. Straz Jr. Manatee Hospital, the Zoo’s veterinary and animal-care staff treat sick, injured and orphaned manatees, and return them to the wild after rehabilitation. The Zoo also cares for the most diverse group of Florida wildlife anywhere, and has won numerous awards for animal preservation.

“Great zoo!”
Reviewed March 16, 2014

I've been to this zoo for several events and it's a pleasure every time. I would recommend going when it's cooler in FL (i.e., October through March) because it's not fully shaded and the sun will make for a long hot day in the summer months.

This visit was to see the sea lion show which was super cute. I loved that the trainers discussed how they train the lions and demonstrated areas of expertise from each lion. Made me realize that every lion was not a 'machine' that could do every trick perfectly and it was nice that the trainers highlighted their strengths.

The monkeys that look like skunks were straight up adorable because there were 2-3 little babies clumsily hopping around and trying to jump on ropes and getting scolded by their mamma's - so cute.

Side note - Zoo Boo is another great time to go with kids - cute and not at all scary.

“Beautiful day in Tampa Bay”
Reviewed March 14, 2014 via mobile

Took my wife and daughter to Lowry Park Zoo today, I haven't been there since I was a child myself. The zoo is very well maintained and the animals look happy and well taken care of. Easy to navigate and maneuver the zoo and it's split up nicely into different areas. If you're hungry avoid the Garden Grill restaurant at the front entrance, the food quality is terrible. There are much better food selections towards the back of the zoo I believe in the African section.

Fun zoo, clean, animals are easily seen. We bought the Tampa Trio online and appreciated the discounted ticket prices.

“Good value, great for younger kids”
Reviewed March 12, 2014 via mobile

Loved the free parking. Picked up $3.00 off coupons at travel plaza. Enjoyed the Sea Lions special exhibit which was free (not sure if due to the rain so they couldn't run all rides and bounces houses or what). Many free little kid rides, not a thrill for teens. We spent five hours without children and saw it all. Would go back in the future! Restrooms could be cleaner. Lovely smaller zoo, so much less money than Busch Gardens.

“Great Zoo for all ages”
Reviewed March 11, 2014

We went to this very well put together zoo on our stay in Tampa. The zoo is great for all ages. We did not have children with us and had a blast. The animals are very active and close to you. Great experience.
