Owner description: Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo is home to more than 1300 animals and famous for having one of the most beautiful, tropical zoological settings in the world. The Zoo brings together animals and visitors to create unforgettable, natural connections. Guests get closer to wildlife than ever before by touching a giant tortoise, feeding a giraffe, getting nose-to-horn with an Indian rhino, hand-to-fin with slippery stingrays and more! Families can also splash in water play areas, feel thrills on rides and take in educational shows. Love manatees? The Zoo is the only place in Tampa where guests can see Florida manatees year round. At the David A. Straz Jr. Manatee Hospital, the Zoo’s veterinary and animal-care staff treat sick, injured and orphaned manatees, and return them to the wild after rehabilitation. The Zoo also cares for the most diverse group of Florida wildlife anywhere, and has won numerous awards for animal preservation.

“Not Just for Children”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

This is a place not to miss for children and adults. For children a treat and for adults awesome experience as the size of the Zoo is small compared to others in the USA and houses a fabulous Manatee exhibit. I gave my husband a Surprise Birthday Party at the Zoo and adopted an orangutan for one year and gave it to my husband. I had a fabulous brunch served in one of the dining rooms with Chanpagne and the party was a huge success with the old and the young.
The Director of the Zoo met with us and treated us like VIP's The Staff were amazing and the animals were hiliarias especiall the monkey family... Jean V

“Nice little Zoo”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

Nice zoo, once you get passed the messy looking parking lot. I visit this zoo at least once a year. Nice way to spend the day. Generally not really busy so you will have easy access to view animals.

“Darn good zoo”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

There's not much to like about this zoo. I've come a couple times a year for the last 15 years, & it has consistently improved. They've added & expanded interactive areas. There are actually a few kid's rides here now. There are places for the kids to jump & splash in the water, if that's their thing. This is a great way to spend a day. It's kind of hot in the summer, but that's just Florida.

“Good Family Zoo”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

Lowry Park Zoo surpasses most of the zoos I grew up with. It is a very clean place and you can tell they take Pride in their Animal Friends. The best thing is to go and see how they nurse our grand Manatees back to health and then release them so they can enjoy their life in the oceans once again. This zoo offers some rides which thrill the kids. The food is good and they are trying to offer foods for those that have special needs (diets!!). But like me the diet goes out the window when I smell the pizza and chicken fingers and waffle fries!! Worth the price and if you choose they also have Lowry park where you could just have a wonderful picnic with the kids. Have Fun!!!
