Owner description: Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo is home to more than 1300 animals and famous for having one of the most beautiful, tropical zoological settings in the world. The Zoo brings together animals and visitors to create unforgettable, natural connections. Guests get closer to wildlife than ever before by touching a giant tortoise, feeding a giraffe, getting nose-to-horn with an Indian rhino, hand-to-fin with slippery stingrays and more! Families can also splash in water play areas, feel thrills on rides and take in educational shows. Love manatees? The Zoo is the only place in Tampa where guests can see Florida manatees year round. At the David A. Straz Jr. Manatee Hospital, the Zoo’s veterinary and animal-care staff treat sick, injured and orphaned manatees, and return them to the wild after rehabilitation. The Zoo also cares for the most diverse group of Florida wildlife anywhere, and has won numerous awards for animal preservation.

We had taken our children to Lowry Park Zoo when they were young (many years ago) and just took one of our grandchildren recently. This place is truly amazing! The zoo is CLEAN, it feels very safe, and the animals are very readily available for viewing. We've been to so many zoos (including the National Zoo in Washington, D.C.) where you are only HOPING to see a particular animal only to be dissapointed that for one reason or another, you couldn't see them. I liked the giraffe exhibit the best. You can go on a platform up high and see their faces soooo close! Our three year old grandbaby kept saying, "Holy Cow!!!" It was WONDERFUL! We also enjoyed going on the camel ride with the grandbaby, and she was able to enjoy the pony ride by herself! We particularly enjoyed the (dine-in) restaurant with a wonderful view of the animals! This zoo is quite a bit less walking than many other zoos, yet you see more animals! Lowry Park Zoo has done an amazing job of improving their zoo! I highly recommend a full-day visit!

between the easily navigable layout of the zoo and the plethora of animals and creatures that you can see while you're here, this is easily the best zoo I have ever visited. As far as food goes the prices are a little inflated for the portion sizes but that's to be expected at most any theme park or attraction of this caliber. we had a fantastic time here and will definitely be visiting Lowry Park Zoo again!

My cousin was visiting so we covered the whole zoo and were delighted with the animals, most of whom were very active. It was a day full of fascinating animal behaviour & hard to pick a favourite but I think the elephants (well maybe the giraffes came second) won the day!

We went to the Wild Wonderland event at Lowry Park Zoo and had the best time! The decorations and fake "snow" were awsome! The number of animals exhibits available was great. We saw rhinos and giraffes closer than we ever had before. Our group had two 2year olds in it and they had so much fun. plenty of rides open too!
Our only complaint was that it wasnt open longer.

The zoo has a manatee rescue hospital where injured manatees go treatment. It's fun to watch them because they are so large yet peacefull looking. The zoo has been rated as the number one family zoo in the US so is a good choce for families
