We attended a wedding here last weekend.
Hotel is old but really quaint inside.
Right on the river so there are some good views from the backside.
The event was great and the staff to our surprise was fantastic inside.
surprised because our initial impression upon arrival was not good.

We had to circle the hotel 3 times just to get in.
Back on to one way city streets with a ton of street lights to go through and back around 3 times.
The valet staff was clearly not prepared for this event. Once we got into the entry area they were not real friendly either. Robotic looks, sluggishly walking around and hardly a warm greeting. Maybe they were just stressed?
The end of the event was the same deal outside. We waited over 25 minutes for our car. They forgot us altogether because I asked one of the staff about the wait, he went to their valet area pulled something out and a staff member took off. That same guy pulled up with our car. No apology or explanation at all of course.

I found out that the valet company at the Sheraton is the same that works for the Marriott Waterside. We are a member of a business networking group that recently had an event at there. We had the same exact issue at this hotel getting into our event! Entrance lane blocked and cars stuck in the road having to circle around through the city.
Lots or our members were irritated with the experience out front there. I didn't complain but after a second run in with staff from this valet company I'll be contacting the Waterside as well.
Poor experience!

Thank you for taking a moment to tell us about your experience with the wedding you attended at our hotel last weekend. We're happy to hear that you found our hotel to be quaint, that it provides scenic river front views, and that you found our staff to be fantastic.

We're extremely disappointed to hear about your negative first impression with our valet parking operations. Regrettably, the smaller driveway and the awkward street intersection that our busy downtown property sits on can occasionally cause challenges when there is heavy traffic volume, particularly when it's coupled with heavier rush hour traffic. We concede that our valet team could have staffed more heavily and that they should have been more warm and apologetic for your experience and for this we apologize. We are in the process of investigating what modifications we can make to our front drive with the hope of redesigning it to make it more efficient for instances when we do have large arrivals or events. We truly thank you for your feedback as it is a vehicle that we use to provide better guest experiences. We hope to be able to welcome you back again soon.

Ok. so the rooms and especially the corridors are very tired, but they are clean and the staff are very friendly, helpful and knowledgable about the local area.
The hotel is going to be refurbished in the next 12 months so check the work has been done before booking.
Oh and the pool is very good, especially for teenagers (9 foot deep)

Room Tip: Get a room on the riverside that overlooks the pool.

This hotel is old - no question about it, but the views are really great. We stayed one night and were assigned a room on the top floor with a balcony that provided us with a spectacular view of the river. It is quite a sight to look down at the bridges on the river at night, which are illuminated by red, blue and green lights. The valet parking (the only way available at this hotel) was quick, and the parking staff was very good at what they do. The front desk staff need some improvement. When we checked in it took forever, and the keys did not work for the room so we had to go back to the front desk and get them rekeyed. The room was comfortable, and the lounge on the club level was well stocked with snacks and wine, beer and soft drinks, all served by a lovely young lady who eager to help with great service.

Room Tip: Obtain a room on the river side and on the top floors if possible.

Thank you for staying with us. We're happy to hear that you found the views from the balcony of your river view guest room to be spectacular. The installation of the Aqua Luces public art display illuminating the bridges spanning the Hillsborough River have been an excellent and well received addition to the downtown Tampa sky line and we're glad you had the chance to experience it. Also, thank you for recognizing the efficiency of our valet parking operations as well as your experience with the offerings and service you received in our club lounge. We're sorry to hear that your check-in took so long and that you experienced some issues with you room keys. However, we appreciate you bringing this to our attention so we can properly coach our front desk associates to better serve all of our guests. As far as being an oldie but goodie, we appreciate the compliment and are delighted to share that we are addressing the dated appearance of our guest rooms through a capital intensive renovation and modernization project that is scheduled to begin in the next few weeks. We hope you will consider staying us again at the completion of the project so you can experience the refreshed Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk. I have been to this hotel so many times that I lost track. The employees truly spoil me when I arrive. They know my name when I pull up to the valet. The young men are so cordial, I just love them all. And when I walked up to the front desk, there was my old friend Thabani. It was just such a pleasure seeing him there again. I just wish all the employees there would take a lesson from him. He's so good at his job, intelligent, and congenial. He knows what I want and always takes good care of me. Too bad he's not there all the time. I would also like to acknowledge Jennifer (who's always so very nice), Samantha, and Meko and Allyson from the Ashley Street Grill. They are all wonderful people. That's what makes staying at the Sheraton so pleasant.

Room Tip: I always stay on the riverview side. It's absolutely beautiful sitting on the balcony.

Location very good. Housekkeeping, bar, valet, and restaurant staff excellent. Old hotel, needs huge improvement. Furniture falling apart, hallways smell, plumbing terrible. Key to our rooms never worked, every time we needed to go to the front desk to reprogramm the keys. Front desk nice except a woman extremely argumentative and full of excuses. We ended up with 13 keys that never worked. Bathroom fixtures old, shower very small, some bulbs were out.

Room Tip: very unhappy with this hotel, go somewhere else.

We're extremely sorry to hear that you experienced so much trouble with your guest room keys and that you feel the conditions of our guest rooms were old and dated. We're also extremely disappointed that you had an argumentative encounter with one of our front desk associates and assure you that we have coached this individual to ensure similar encounters are not repeated in the future. We are happy to announce that we have plans to begin an extensive renovation and beautification project in the coming weeks to modernize our facilities so we can enhance our future guests' experiences. Great location and, for the most part, helpful & courteous staff. The rooms are "worn" and definitely in need of updating but clean and quite acceptable. I booked through Hotwire, so I was OK with price paid, but had I paid full price I would have felt overcharged. Our rooms were on the "city view" side which consists of a view of the street and the buildings across the street - the balcony went unused. I had requested a river view upon arrival and was told that other guests could request that, but I would have to take whatever was "left" since I booked through Hotwire. :(
We had 2 rooms and both had ongoing problems with the keys working. We had to get new keys almost every time we wanted to enter our rooms. After we went to the desk a few times, we were told we could call from the phone by the elevator and they'd be brought to us - keys were delivered quickly when we had to do this.
Our location near the ice machine was unfortunate, as it is loud and we could hear guests using it at all hours.
We stayed Fri -Sun. The shower was slow to drain, resulting in water rising to mid-calf level while showering (unpleasant!). We let the front desk know as we left for the day on Saturday, and it was working fine upon our return. However, I also discovered a bag containing most of my cosmetics/brushes (nearly $200 worth) were missing from the bathroom. Staff was ultimately helpful but unapologetic and said I'd have to wait until the next morning to see if it had ended up at their laundry facility. Indeed, it had, and the bag was finally returned as we were checking out - after I completed a claim w/their ins. co. It would have been nice to have my makeup for our Saturday evening out, but I was relieved to finally get everything back and in good condition before we left.
Otherwise, our stay was enjoyable. The downtown location is convenient, the pool was clean and refreshing, and the patio well kept with a nice view of the UT and the river. The rooms were a decent size and the beds comfortable.
Charges you may not be prepared for/aware of include valet service & water. Valet is not optional and is $18 per night. Also read the "fine print" on the water bottles! The small bottle is included but the large one is $4 - we were surprised by this charge at checkout, which is especially irritating because I just used it for the coffee maker and didn't drink the rest.

Room Tip: Request a river view if you can, not too close to the ice machine

Thank you for staying with us and sharing feedback relating to your experience. We're happy to hear that you found our location to be desirable and that our staff was mostly helpful and courteous.

We understand your frustration with our team's inability to honor your request for a river view guest room. We strive to honor every guest's preferences but occasionally our inventory is limited. Part of the reasons we are able to offer discounted rates on 3rd party websites such as Hotwire.com is the acceptance of the terms and conditions which indicate that you will receive the best available room type at check-in. In your case, river view guest rooms were not available and a city view guest room was the only room type available to honor your reservation. We apologize that our staff member did not address this more tactfully.

We concede that some areas of the hotel do in fact have a dated and tired appearance. We are delighted to share that we are addressing these conditions with a capital intensive renovation and building project that is scheduled to begin in the next few weeks. We are also glad to hear that when you reported an issue with your shower drain to our front desk staff that it was promptly addressed and rectified to your satisfaction upon your return later that day.

Please accept our sincerest apologies for how the situation with your cosmetics was handled. We have revised our lost and found procedures to help ensure that future guests do not have to wait until the following morning to secure items that may be secured in our lost and found office after hours.

Lastly, valet parking is our hotel's only parking option due to the smaller footprint of our front drive which abuts to the main downtown through street. This is to better control traffic flow and for the safety and security of all guests. We're investigating to determine how we can ensure that our parking charges and terms are displayed on 3rd party sites to help eliminate this confusion in the future.

Thanks again for staying with us and sharing your feedback. It's only through feedback like yours that we are able to address our services for all of our guests. We hope you'll consider returning to our hotel at the conclusion of the renovation project so you can experience the refreshed Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk.
