We stayed two nights for a visit in the Tampa area. Locating the hotel with our GPS was a problem and our confirmation printout provided a warning of this. We called the front desk and was given directions to the hotel by a very helpful manager. Good sign!

Pros: friendly staff, clean room, full kitchen, exercise room, and location

Cons:
- Noisy, examples could hear occupants across the corridor leave and return to their room, could hear the occupants above us walk around their room, and could hear an occasional flight take off at the airport.
- Safety issue, the GFC outlet in the bathroom was not energized. The lighting panel was on the opposite wall and upon opening the panel; I found the breaker that this outlet was on had tripped. We attempted to use the GFC outlet in the kitchen but it tripped at the outlet, which it should if overloaded. We did not discover this until our second evening as we were dressing to go out. There were electrical issues with this room. We reported these items naturally.
- The furniture (sofa and ottoman) was worn or had seen better days.
- The bed and pillows (though plenty) were not comfortable.
- The ventilation (HVAC) system was extremely noisy.

First impressions are sometimes misleading and we may have just caught a bad room. That happens sometimes. With prices for everything soaring, you want value for your hard-earned dollars. It would be hard for us to stay here again.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights following a cruise that we took out of Tampa. We stayed in downtown Tampa before the cruise and were looking for a hotel on the outskirts for our remaining 2 nights and this hotel fit the bill. We stayed January 6-8, 2011. We paid a AAA rate of $75 per night + tax.

Upon arrival we were greeted by one of the friendliest front desk clerks I've ever encountered! He checked us in quickly and told us about the hotel amenities. We asked him some questions about things in the area and he was knowledgeable and answered all our questions.

The hotel had a brand new feel to it. Upon entering the room it felt comfortable and homey. It had a good size kitchen and a roomy bathroom. The flat screen TV was nice and the free wifi access worked well. There was a couch in the room, but since there was really no place to put our luggage (the rooms could use luggage racks or small tables to put suitcases on), the couch and coffee table served as the luggage stands. There was a hair dryer in the bathroom which is always a welcome amenity because it means one less thing to pack (although I had to pack a hair dryer for the cruise).

We used our laptops in our room, but used the computer in the lobby to purchase and print out discounted Busch Gardens tickets and to print out our boarding passes for our flight home.

The best thing about the room (which some people may not like) was that the window looked out onto one of the airport runways. A plane would land about every 15 minutes or so and we would take guesses on what airline would land next - lol. The runway was pretty close, so it was kind of cool! There was of course noise whenever a plane landed, but it was only during the day. We heard no takeoffs or landings late at night or early in the morning.

The hotel was close to several malls and restaurants... so many that we had a problem deciding where to eat!

We did not use the outdoor pool because air temperatures were only in the 60s when we were there.

Breakfast in the lobby was adequate. There wasn't a lot of seating in the lobby to eat breakfast, but we managed to find a seat both mornings.

A friend that lives in Orlando came and picked us up at the hotel one morning to take us to Busch Gardens. He had no problem finding the hotel.

Since the hotel was located so close the airport, we were able to sleep in a little the morning of our flight, which was nice.

If I needed to stay near the Tampa airport again, I would definitely stay at this property if the price was right! I only wish I had taken some photos of the hotel to share with others.

My party of six flew into Tampa about 9:30 p.m. and needed a room for the night before we drove to Orlando the next day. We called TownePlace Suites for the airport shuttle after we had gotten our baggage, and it was there soon after, the driver was very friendly. Check in was a breeze, the room was very clean and we slept well. We didn't have time to use the pool (though it looked very nice) or other amenities, but were pleased with what we did see. The staff was very friendly.

Stayed for two nights during March break. Had partiers in the next room that kept us awake til 3 am. Will not stay here again because of this. Awesome pool and the staff were very nice though. Nice, clean decor.

Room Tip: Ask for top floor, corner room

Located across from Tampa International Airport and convenient to great shopping, dining, and local businesses, this hotel is hard to beat. It was newly built in 2008 and had a very modern look in both the exterior and interior. Upon arrival I was greeted immediately upon entering the building. The lobby was bright and contained a giant wall sized map of the Tampa Bay area and highlighted nearby food, businesses, and attractions. The front desk is 24 hours and you can purchase many snack items and other sundries right there as well. In the morning there is a nice continental breakfast with pastries, cereals, coffee and juice. Coffee is also available 24 hours a day at no cost. Outside of the hotel is free parking and an outdoor heated lap pool. It has to be one of the largest pools I have seen at a hotel in this lodging segment.

The rooms are large and very comfortable. Being that this hotel is in the extended stay segment, there is a full kitchen with a fridge, stove, sink and dishwasher. A spacious desk also had a pull out table under it that you can use as a dining table. The television is a nice sized LCD with full cable and HBO. There was a king sized bed and a cushioned chair along side of it. For those of you who stay for long periods of time, you will have plenty of closet space to go around. The bathroom was spacious with a sink with a large mirror and a spacious shower!

Overall, the TownePlace Suites at Tampa Westshore exceeded my expectations. It reminded me of the excellent service you find at a full blown Marriott. I recommend this to anyone looking for a great lodging experience in the Tampa area!

We stayed here for one night prior to boarding our cruise. My first impression when I entered the lobby was a little guarded, since the carpet seemed a little dirty. But the staff was very friendly and extremely helpful and our room was very nice and clean, as was the rest of the hotel. I think the lobby carpet had probably just seen a lot of traffic. The hotel provided a free shuttle from the airport and assisted with transportation the next day to the cruise port (we paid $28, I believe, for 4 of us). We spent a relaxing hour or so by the pool with drinks purchased from the lobby, and then walked next door to the Hilton Garden Inn for dinner, where the hotel staff told us we could receive 10% off if we showed them our TownePlace key, which they did. the next morning we took advantage of the fitness center, which was small, but well-equipped. Overall, a very nice, fairly priced stay. I would definitely come here again for a pre-cruise stay.
