“Interesting Bulding.”
Reviewed March 1, 2012

We always bring our friends here. Very nice to visit at Christmas time to see all of the trees decorated and the architecture of the building alone is a true site. One can only imagine what it was like in it's prime as a beautiful hotel. One of Tampa's historical beauties to see.

Thank natnpr

“Love this place!”
Reviewed March 1, 2012

Always interesting exhibits in a great old building. We enjoy walking around the building too and the park across the way. Fun to go to their Picnic in the Park event in March. Boat ride on the river is a bonus! Very interesting history. Easy parking. Gift shop.

“Beautiful building”
Reviewed February 29, 2012

LOVE the building and it's totally worth seeing. I didn't like that the museum was crammed into a few rooms and there wasn't a nice flow to it. It's worth a visit.

“Surprised by the high "museum to sq foot" ratio”
Reviewed February 20, 2012

My primary reason for the visit was for one of the Antique Evaluation Saturdays. I had some time left over and decided to spend it well by visiting the museum. On first sight it seemed that it would not take a long time. In the end we wished we had budgeted more time. The museum gives you a great perspective of Henry B. Plant, his businesses, the hotel's history and its place in the general history of the period.

You may need a couple of attempts to get used to the hand held audio gadgets you are given at the front desk - but it is worth carrying that around close to your ears. You learn of the history of the exhibits and also optional additional information of the period. You may want to start with the 14 min introductory video. Check out the website too before you visit - though I think you would run the risk of underestimating the experience and deciding to pass on it.

Once you are done take a stroll outside for a while - you will enjoy it if it isn't the summer. Parking may be an issue. Also, the rest room is outside the museum area; so you may need to hop out and back in if you stay a while.

If you are a new resident of the city you may want to plan this with a weekend out-of-home family lunch.

“Small but interesting Museum on the river”
Reviewed February 17, 2012

A small museum on the beatiful campus of the Uiversity of Tampa on the Hillsborough River. The architecture alone is worth the trip
