Went by myself because it was raining. So glad I did. Great for adults and kids. Walking distance to hotels.

“Boarding the Dolphin Cruise was precarious for seniors”
Reviewed February 1, 2014

The aquarium itself was small but clean with interesting displays. There were a multitude of fish species, and a multitude of young school children running about with marginal supervision. Given the size of the aquarium and the number of children, it was impossible to get away from them. It felt like being in the center of the school playground during recess. I am ok with children at museums, etc., but this was just way too many at a time, with insufficient adult supervision. There is one show involving two divers in the tank with sharks, and one diver has a microphone, but we could not understand much of what he was saying. The show was geared toward young children.
We took the dolphin cruise, which was excellent other than the surprisingly dangerous boarding and disembarking process. There was a short gangplank with rails on both sides - ok so far. But then you have to step down onto a step structure with absolutely no rails, and you are told to grab a hand of staff who are there to help you. Their willingness to help was appreciated, but it certainly did not provide the same assistance as a side rail. After you take these steps (3?), you make a 90 degree turn onto an identical set of steps with no side rail. If one tripped and fell, you could conceivable fall directly into Tampa Bay.
This is far from handicapped accessible. Younger people and the fit will find this no challenge, but for others it was daunting. We have taken many similar boat tours, and never had this type of problem.

“A great place to visit for adults and children alike”
Reviewed February 1, 2014

We were a little hesitant about visiting here because of some of the reviews on Trip Advisor but you MUST go! It was great. We times our visit so that we could take in most of the presentations that were made so our visit lasted almost 5 hours. You can go there and back to the different areas, which is what we did so that we could see the various presentations but the place is not that big that you can't do this. The staff were very friendly and helpful. All the facilities there were very good and they are working on a new area there to make the place a lot bigger too. I would go back there.
