“Ruined my son's birthday cake”

I ordered a cake for my son's birthday party and when we went to pick up the cake they instructed the cake was almost ready and we waited. When it came out, the cake was fresh (which is a plus) but for the type of cake it was, a two tiered cake with heavy icing, it needed to be cooled in order for it not to fall apart. The cake never made it to my son's party. it fell apart without having any accidents. It was a disaster to say the least. I had to tell my son that a "monster" walked over the cake and ran off. My son's birthday was a MONSTER UNIVERSITY movie theme. The top tier of the cake came off. the bottom half, Sully's face, melted right off. Yes the cake was fresh, but in order to make it to an outdoors birthday party, it needed to be refrigerated for a bit before releasing it to us. I then proceeded to call and explain the case and they stated they took pictures of it before it left and it was perfect when it left… I am so disappointed they didnt even offer any solutions. To conclude, my son's birthday party we blew a candle on the repaired (by me) top tier which looked horrible. the bottom half wasnt even edible completely crumbled. So sorry for my son, he didnt even get to see the cake at all… How sad! Will never buy anything from there again.

The flavors of the tarts, flans, guava pastries are just spot on to what you expect of Spanish desserts. The Tres Leches is a hit too. Nice place to stop for a very traditional espresso or any variety of Spanish coffee. The hot Cuban Bread is so good, sometimes it barely makes it home for dinner... In the parking lot, you'll find several vendors selling fresh fruits & vegetables so make sure you bring cash as you may find some good deals.

It was at one time a premier bakery. It had everything you could think of and it was quality at an affordable price. Not anymore. They have very little variety. The guava pastries have a drop of guava but are expensive. Why? I know people who know the lady who now owns it and she uses the notoriety of this place to lure in customers who hear its the place to be. This people aren't really people who know what it's supposed to taste like so they rave, but you hardly see locals there. Doesn't that tell you something?

In the heart of the Tampa Cuban community sits a local bakery with great cakes and Cuban pastries. 99% of the clientel appears Cuban and english is a 2nd language. The coffee con leche is superb ( expresso, coffee, sugar, steamed milk). Said by our Cuban daughter-in-law to be the best in Tampa and better than her favorites in Miami.
Their takeout sandwiches look authentic but we don't yet have first hand experience or a basis for comparison.
Most morning customers are "blue collar" Cubans on their way to / from work. A sure sign of quality and value when the locals are the basis of a business
Located within a mile of the Tampa Bays Buccaneers football stadium and the NY Yankees springtraining facilities.
