“Great location, beautiful decor”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 11, 2012

Our family of four stayed for one night in a double room while visiting Tallahassee for an FSU campus tour. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Room 305 was clean and comfortable and located all the way at the back of the hotel on the third floor, so it was very quiet. The historic decor was beautiful and interesting. Great location right down the street from the campus (short drive) or within walking distance of the capital buildings and many restaurants. The free cocktail hour and free in-room Wi-Fi were both nice bonuses. The free continental breakfast though wasn't much more than some granola, toast, coffee and juice, which didn't quite meet our family's needs. A couple things to know before you book: 1. There is no elevator, so if your room is on the second or third floor, you will be climbing a considerable number of stairs and carrying luggage, although the staff is more than happy to help you carry. 2. There is only valet parking available for a $10 fee per night, but again, the staff is very prompt in bringing your vehicle when you need it. Overall, it was a fun and comfortable stay, and we would book it again for our next visit to Tallahassee.

Good location...employees very helpful and take very good care of everyone..room 101 four poster bed,,one post blocks television screen..
No soap dish in shower,,towel rack on opposite side of bathroom from shower...work done on shower tile and sheetrock...looks like repair done by a rookie dyi maintenance man...no refrigerator in room...did ask for one..still nothing...iron and iron board leaned up against the wall next to t.v.....over all if I was become governor of Florida... I would want to change the hotel's name.

Great location can not be beat, the staff is always very friendly and is willing to help with just about any request. The cocktail hour is always a nice touch with plenty of free booze. The rooms have been updated and are in good shape the tv is a bit small and out of place but thats a minor issue if one at all. Biggest thing to consider is the noise can be a bit of an issue if you are a very light sleeper rooms that back up to the main hall way or the courtyard can be a bit noisy depending on who is staying in the hotel. Overall one of our favorite places to stay in tallahassee

This boutique hotel was great! It fronts a cobb;led stoned square that jas a variety of restaurants. Furnishings are generally antique, there is valent parking which I recommend, bed are huge lofty 4 posters--needed a step stool get in mine. Have a nice free breakfast--cereals, danishsm yogurt, ganola, toast, bagel, coffe, tea, juice. Only thing--no elevator, but is only 3 stories (felt sorry for bellman!) Staff was very friendly and helpful. Pricing is super.

The Governor's Inn is located a block away from the New and Historic Capitol buildings in Tallahassee and directly across the street from Andrew's Grill. All of the downtown museums and restaurants are within an easy stroll through the quiet town. Andrew's has a salad bar, in addition to burgers and sandwiches, while Harry's (a block away) provided excellent Cajun style seafood.

The Inn is a neatly remodeled horse stable that shows signs of the past in the truss work that is still visible as you walk down the main corridor. We arrived to a VERY attentive staff and valet service who regularly engaged in pleasant conversation and offers of assistance. We were fortunate to visit the Capitol during a lull in activity so the Inn and Capitol buildings were quiet and relaxing. We opted for a Loft unit that sported a comfortable King size bed up a flight of spiral stairs. The main level had a pull out sofa, fireplace and balcony. We didn't use the fireplace due to the summertime conditions, and the balcony only overlooked a closed courtyard so there wasn't really any view from it. The sofa bed was uncomfortable for our 10-year-old so we placed the mattress on the floor and she was OK. The flat panel TVs were small but serviceable.

Overall the location and attentiveness of the staff made our stay at the Governor's Inn exceptional and I would recommend it if you want to stay in the heart of town.

Room Tip: Loft units have balcony overlooking closed courtyard.

I recently stayed at the Governor's Inn while visiting my daughter at FSU. The staff is awesome! The first night we stayed in room 102. It was HORRIBLE. It was the noisiest hotel room I have ever had. The room is called a "deluxe" room. It was not. It was too close to the lobby, very small, and not in good condition. At night we were kept up by guests going to their rooms. Before 6am, it is very noisy with the hotel staff preparing for the very modest breakfast. There are dishes clanging & you can hear people talking. It was very loud. I called the front desk by 7:30am & begged to be moved to the back of the hotel. They did accommodate. It was a much better experience in that room. It was very inconvenient to switch rooms & we were exhausted all day Saturday which I was looking forward to enjoying with our daughter. I think you will enjoy your stay if you are in the back of the hotel. the hotel does advertise refrigerators in the rooms & you have to call the front desk for them. There is also not space in the rooms for the refrigerator.

Room Tip: Rooms in the back of the hotel are MUCH quieter.
