Step back into gold rush days in Colorado or Montana. The decor is old west modern, the food is always fantastic. The booths are perfect for semi private business conversation. I go here once a week. Love the food and service!!

We have visited this restaurant a couple times and the food is always good. This will be a regular spot when visiting Tallahassee.

Came with family (party of four), for an early dinner - 4:30pm. No wait. Service was excellent. Host was very friendly and let us choose our seating (wasn't pleased with his choice of a booth by the bar). Jon, our server, was very professional, patient, and knowledgeable. This was our first time in Tallahassee and we didn't want to eat at a chain, but Ted's sounded intriguing, (hometowns Baton Rouge and Chicago don't have one), and worth the trip from the TA reviews. Jon was "Johnny on the Spot" -- within five minutes of our seating he brought out hot rolls! My mother loved the complementary, thickly sliced Kosher dill pickles. Said they reminded her of Chicago! (Just discovered that there are a couple of Ted's in outlying Chicago suburbs...) Food arrived after 25 minute wait with rolls and pickles in between. We ordered the crab cake appetizer, Big Sky Grilled Chicken salad (kind of like a Cobb minus the bacon), Salt and Pepper Trout with baked sweet potato and parmesan roasted broccoli, and the Delmonico 14 oz Bison ribeye with onion rings, fries, and garlic mashed potatoes (don't ask...).
Ribeye was overcooked. Jon took it back with apologies. The front house manager, Robert, stopped by with apologies as well, and brought the new steak out. He engaged us in great conversation! Steak was perfectly cooked, seasoned well but not overly so. Bison, cooked med rare, tasted like top grade beef. Crab cake was excellent, according to Mom, the crab cake connoisseur. "It was primarily jumbo white lump crab meat.... divine.... One of the best I've ever had! " said the world- traveling, high-end foodie. My trout was very good. The corn tomato salsa was brilliant. Added just the right amount of zing! Sweet potato came with cinnamon sugar butter. Big Sky salad was satisfying and fresh, said my hubbie. Last, but not least, we had a chocolate shake and the strawberry shortcake for dessert. My son said it was one of the best shakes ever...He's 21 and hard to impress. The shortcakes were homemade biscuits... different but good. Btw, the decor was modern rustic/saloon style. Very clean. Intimate booths as well as tables. Lighting perfect for late afternoon. We noticed that they dimmed the lights for the dinner seating. Nice ambience whether you're dressed from come-as-you-are casual to business attire to date night wear. Pricing was good. All that food came in around $100 before tip! Our final rating: 4.5 from this happy, sated reviewer! Ted's made a great first impression!

The beef and bison steaks were absolutely amazing! The side dishes were also delicious. Service was good and the atmosphere was nice. It's now on our list of favorites in Tally.

My favorite item on the menu is the crab cake. Just delicious. I do not even order crab cakes anywhere else now after having had Ted's for years. The service seemed a little off - the waiter didn't seem to have too many tables but was often missing for stretches of time while our water needed refilling. When you have a $50+ lunch for two, you expect the highest quality of service to go along with it. My husband ordered the beef steak and said it was very good. I always enjoy their onion rings also as they are not greasy but very dry and tasty. The half sour pickles served at the beginning are delicious - very similar to ones we had from Pike Street Market in Seattle. Back to the crab cake - not filled with breadcrumbs but has tasty crab meat and just the right spices. Cooked to perfection
