Owner description: Nestled within 52 acres of flora and fauna, the Tallahassee Museum is an oasis close to the heart of downtown. The Tallahassee Museum features a working 1880s pioneer farmstead, native Florida wildlife habitat (including panthers and red wolves), cypress swamp, Jim Gary's 20th Century Dinosaurs, and the all new Tallahassee Tree to Tree Adventures (an outdoor zip line and adventure course for kids and adults). Come enjoy the great outdoors with us at the Tallahassee Museum- where nature, history, science, and fun come together!

I love this museum. There are animals to see and the ground as a whole are great to explore. The old buildings and sink hole is fun to play in. With the addition of the zip line adventure it is a perfect place to visit for the day. Beware though since it is in Florida it gets rather hot in the summer.

Described as a "Living Museum", but in no way stuffy or rigidly organised, you have as much time to spend as you want to discover the natural wildlife along the nature trails provided, and a short walk away exhibits of "Old Florida" in an equally "natural setting"! For the more adventurous a network of zip-wires take you through and above the Cypress Swamps! By the end of your visit, you'll come away with many memories, insights into the hard lives of those working on the Cotton Plantations and hopefully you'll have had the chance to take some great photos of the wildlife too! The best parts about this Museum is that you can be your own "Tour Guide", armed with a simple map at the entrance, exploring at your own pace, but with very helpful and knowledgeable staff at hand if you want more detail! When we visited in late march there were absolutely no queues, and more animals and birds than visitors - bliss!

Great little park...well maintained. Animals have a good amt of space to live in. Nice to have something to do outdoors. The dinosaur sculptures were awesome---what talent. I wouldn't call it a museum though.

A thoroughly enjoyable 3 hours. Natural habitats for the wildlife. Small displays for reptiles & Fish, but they made up for it was a great bird of prey display. Staff very accommodating. Clean restrooms. Go enjoy your topi me at this Texas treasure.

Long term residents of the region will always refer to this as the Junior Museum, its original name. It is on the shores of a lake, with a large land area, large enclosures holding North FLorida native fauna, farm animals in a separate area with pioneer farmstead buildings, eagles and other birds, usually a 'visiting guest' animal or two, elevated walkways through the large enclosures, a zip line, a cafe, and old time general store, an old one room schoolhouse and an old wooden church, and many other things to look at and do. It is the best place in Tallahassee to take a first time visitor who has any interest whatsoever in either history or animals.
