Owner description: Nestled within 52 acres of flora and fauna, the Tallahassee Museum is an oasis close to the heart of downtown. The Tallahassee Museum features a working 1880s pioneer farmstead, native Florida wildlife habitat (including panthers and red wolves), cypress swamp, Jim Gary's 20th Century Dinosaurs, and the all new Tallahassee Tree to Tree Adventures (an outdoor zip line and adventure course for kids and adults). Come enjoy the great outdoors with us at the Tallahassee Museum- where nature, history, science, and fun come together!

Or a small getaway on the other side of town...always a delight but especially when there is an event to attend...jazz music, pioneer days, etc.

The Tallahassee Museum has the new Tree to Tree Adventures, with ziplines and ropes course. Kind of pricey at $45.00 per person but half the cost of Forever Florida. We spent a couple of hours on the course and had the most fun. Go on a weekday, not the weekend and you'll go soaring through the trees without a crowd at your back. Well worth it.

Looking for things to do with my 7 year old we looked through Trip Advisor's suggestions and decided on the Tallahassee Museum. I was skeptical at first but boy does this place deliver an amazing experience! The fees were reasonable for a family of four. Once you pay and enter the grounds you are treated to a beautifully maintained, natural environment that's conducive to learning and fun for everyone. There are large animals such as horses, bald eagles, wolves, panthers, bears and small animals like snakes and even a white squirrel!

There's an early 1800's settler's house. It's set up the way the pioneers lived and there's a wonderful woman, I think her name is Judith, who works there. She wears the clothing of the period and she grew up on a farm with no electricity in the Midwest. She makes things like butter and cookies and biscuits from scratch right in front of your eyes as she tells you about her own childhood and what it was like for pioneers! There's an old store and a very interesting animatronics exhibit at the rear of the store that features a logging company owner hiring a man and what that was like. There are also old plantation buildings to see including an old segregated school, a church and a plantation home and slave's quarters. I'm telling you this place is awesome! Plus there's a playground and zip lines to try out! Birthday parties look like fun and there was one going on when we were there! The kids were having a blast!

This place is a must do!

There are always cool activities going on here. Especially for the kids. Music festivals are going on from time to time, and farm days. They have the newer Tree to Tree Adventures which is a zip line course. I always seem to miss the otters and rarely see the bears. It' s good family outing or it could even be a nice date. Lots of walking, obviously, so go on a clear, cool day!
