This is a wonderful park for walking among azalea and camellia bushes. When the iris are blooming next to the water features it is pretty. There is onsite water recreation - canoes, etc. Have seen RV hook-up as well.

This is a great state park close to the state capital. There is a very nice lake with a small swimming area. The water is clear, and there is a beach area. A ramp provides access for boats. You can fish from a dock. Many trees provide plenty of shade if you want to stay out of the sun. Nearby are picnic tables and grills. The facilities are very nice with separate bathrooms and changing rooms.

It's just gardens, but man are they pretty. It's an easy walk, great gardens, nice landscape and benches. A secret garden, reflecting pool and gazebo were highlights for me.

It is obvious Mclay loved this area and made it beautiful. Worth the trip to this urban state park.

I live a few miles from here and while we have many places we visit, this is by far one of our favorites. Yes, in March and April they do charge more and it is a bit pricey- that is because this is when the Azalea Gardens are in full bloom, but we still go to see the five and six foot tall Azaleas, which are breathtaking. My family goes biking, hiking, and even swimming here, and we take everyone who comes to visit us, no matter what time of year. You don't always see beautiful, fully blooming flowers, but you will always see lovely, lush well kept gardens.

What a great place to spend an early morning. We arrived soon after the park opened and was witness to the morning fog over the lake surrounded by large trees and beautiful flowers. The museum house was very interesting to look at and the Tour Guide was just wonderful and had so much information to give. Take the time to stroll along the Reflection Ponds and trails...you wont be disappointed. If you go during the afternoon times as it begins to warm, definately bring some bug spray.
