This hotel has recently been renovated. Check in was a breeze i was a little Early Dan the AGM checked me in he was very friendly and courteous. The room he gave us was really clean and the beds were very comfy. he even recomended a great restaurnt down the road from the hotel to us. Breakfast was good. We will Be back!
We stayed at this hotel during a recent soccer tournament. Given that the room rate was only $50, I can't complain too much. You get what you pay for. However, the rooms could stand to be cleaner. It's obvious housekeeping doesn't go out of their way to vacuum the floors. Only the main traffic areas were clean and I hate having to sweep someone else's hairs off the bathroom floor. Room size was okay for a short sat and beds were comfortable. The breakfast was basic, but manageable. The building definitely shows its age and the rooms don't have microwaves or refrigerators which is something that seems to come standard in many hotels these days, regardless of the price range. The parking lot is well lit and the desk staff were helpful and friendly.
The carpets are in good condition, the rooms are clean but small. The place is quiet. Yes, the ice machine on the second floor still doesn't work.
There have been several shootings at this hotel in the last few years, but the Indian owners have some good lighting outside. I didn't hear any gunshots when I was there. Tallahassee is a high crime town with some really nasty drives. So the Microtel is not a bad place to get away from the mess. Country Inn & Suites down the road also looked good, but probably not worth the premium in price.
Microtel gives you a decent sleep at a decent price. Evening check-in lady did an excellent job.
