Ordered hash browns scattered and smothered. Raw cold onion was added after cooking. Cheesesteak had a cold slice of cheese added as an afterthought. Order was wrong. Waffles were flat like pancakes. Service was good. Food not so much.

We do not have these where I live so I like to go to one whenever I travel. The food was excellent and the staff was very friendly. I had a waffle and chilli.

These guys have it going on...it was a busy Sunday morning, but the staff of 8 was on top of it and things ran like clockwork, we had a good view of it sitting at the counter too, watching those 4 cooks work was something to see, I don't know how they do it, but it was quite the spectacle!!!

Let's get the negatives out of the way first. There is no rye bread and the only cheese is American, which is not really cheese. These are damned serious breakfast offenses. If you get an omelet, it will be the fluffiest you ever had because they put the eggs in a blender. But you'll need a microscope to find the minuscule bits of ham and cheese they put in. Get side orders of meat.

However, they keep the pork chops on the menu after Denny's, IHOP, and more recently, Village Inn, succumbed to eliminating the best breakfast on earth. Waffle House gets lots of points for that. And they have all the common sauces, including Worcestershire.

Bert's chili is surprisingly good, especially if you pair it with a BLT, which features a decent bit of bacon, but you have to ask for mayonnaise.

The grits are usually a bit too thick.

A couple things I found out apart from being a customer. Turnover is everything in those small spaces, so they have ways to speed up your departure. One thing is they serve your food on as many plates as possible. So when they keep taking away one plate after another, it creates an unconscious psychology of urgency that makes you finish and get out sooner. In the same vein, they do not allow news racks on premises so you won't linger over another cup of coffee with the paper.
