This is not just a tour of a pretty old house but an excellent overview of the history of Apalachicola. The FL State Parks guide gave an interesting and amusing talk about the Orman family and their connection with the boom and bust of the area. We highly recommend touring the Orman House.

We took the boat ride and it was great. We saw Manatees and many birds. The guide was funny and told us about the movies filmed at this location. Great family fun!

There are numerous hikes throughout the forest. There is a great preservation of this forest by Florida. And by preserving the forest, they are also preserving the wildlife that thrives within it. A beautiful area.

You have several options depending on how much you want to hike. Pet friendly and very nice.

Went boating using the boat ramp located at the end of Williams Landing rd. The lake is absolutely beautiful. The park has comping sites which can be used at no cost to the campers. There are restrooms, covered picnic pavilions with grills to cook out on, and docks to fish from. There is not much for young children to do, no swings or a playground, but it is very peaceful. Great for bird watching and alligator sightings. Lots of bald eagles and osprey in the area.
