I already conversed on this Lighthouse on in your St. Marks WildLife Park. But since it should be iterated more than once, I shall again. This magnificent Lighthouse was used during the Civil War, and needs its interior to be restored. Unfortunately one cannot climb this lighthouse because the State has not allocated funds for this to be done.

I am a photographer and this place always draws me back. No matter what the season I always find something beautiful there. During my boating years passed this location many times by boat and always used the lighthouse when returning to find the channel. Other than enjoying the beauty and peacefulness there is nothing much else here. Be sure to have insect repellent, the "no see ums" will make you trip miserable if the wind is not blowing.

St. Marks Light is a very well preserved part of local history. The setting is so picturesque that it is almost impossible to take a bad photo. The variety of birds and other wildlife make it a photographer's dream and the perfect place for a convenient family outing. One caveat: The mosquitoes can be bad if there isn't a breeze (which there usually is) so take some repellant. Yes, there are alligators, but they keep their distance. Highly recommended.
