Old lighthouse built in 1849. A nice historic place to visit, surrounded by a beach looking out on the Gulf of Mexico, marsh land w/alligators, ducks, and bird watching galore - I will definitely revisit this site again.

Well preserved lighthouse. Open to the public from time to time, check the local paper. Lived in by a well known keeper family with eight children up until the 1950's. Surrounded by National Refuge. Good wildlife watching and native plants. Boat ramp and salt water fishing.

The lighthouse is cool, but the trails that surround it are even cooler. This is one of my favorite unique, romantic getaways in North Florida. You always see something really interesting (alligator, deer, dolphin, etc). Make sure to go during the Monarch Butterfly migration time of the year. Thousands of the most beautiful butterflies in North America fill the pathways around the lighthouse.
