“Go back in time”
Reviewed March 23, 2014

Located by the river walk in Stuart, this museum held lots of memorabilia.
It was located in a general store dating back to 1901. There seemed to be so much to look at I wished it could have been spread out a bit more. There were historical photos from the days when Stuart was a pineapple growing area, for one thing. But so much more was held here. It was free but donations were accepted. They deserve to be supported. The people who were at the desks were anxious to explain anything they could. Hope this great museum continues with much community support!!

“Local heritage spot”
Reviewed March 2, 2014

Stuart has preserved this former feed/hardware store which is a great thing. Items inside have been donated by local people & would have more meaning to local folks. It was nice to learn about the area being a former pineapple/flower producing area. It's free!

“Nice Local Historical Museum”
Reviewed February 15, 2014

The Museum is housed in a old general merchandise store built at the beginning of the twentieth century. Although the Society that runs the museum is only a bit more than twenty-five years old, it has accumulated well over 10,000 artifacts related to the history of Stuart. As many as possible of these are organized in a number of small exhibits including local schools, fishing, local legends, personalities, and so on. The many photographs in these exhibits are particularly interesting. Knowledgeable volunteer docents are on hand to answer questions.

“Small museum with a lot of information”
Reviewed February 3, 2014

This museum is located on the main street in Stuart in a building that was formerly a feed store which harkens back to the early years of Stuart. The museum has been re-organized from the way items were displayed in the past and as a result it much more orderly and easier to navigate. Museum contains many photos and artifacts connected to the early days of the town, the volunteers who staff the museum or friendly and knowledgeable and if you want, they will walk you through the museum and add detail to the items on view and fill in any questions you may have in regard to the history of Stuart. It's a nice way to spend a few hours while visiting the area to get to know more about this interesting town and the people who built it.
