Came for New Years. Planned on a long wait, visited the lounge which was first come, first serve, got a drink and waited for a seat to open while we waited on our cook table in the restaurant. Almost attacked by a patron that claimed there was another line for seating in the lounge. We patiently waited for another table, tried to sit again and another patron insisted the table was theirs. I confirmed with the bar and servers that the lounge was first come service. Once again, tried to sit at now a 3rd open table and a patron and 2 ladies walked in from the stairway insisting yet they were next. When we asked the manager how the process worked, if names were on a list, he stated you stand in the hallway and wait on a table. I explained we had been waiting for 45 mins for a cooktop but got drinks and were going to have sushi prior to dining and asked what the process was if you are in the bar, he proceeded to insist one of our party, my 13 year old son should stand in line in the hallway. In disbelief we got up and walked out. Super rude and disappointing. We left and went for sushi and Thai at a local bistro and had much better service. We wrote and called Benihana to explain or frustration that we were celebrating our sons birthday, no response. Must be nice to be that comfortable in business that this potentially could have ruined our night and my sons birthday. All he wanted was, "cook in front of you" for dinner and sushi.
