My husband and I had a wonderful experience at the Old Colorado Inn. The location is ideal, in downtown Stuart, close to restaurants, shopping, and the beautiful river walk. There is even a mini-park along the river less than a block from the Inn. We stayed in the cottage, which has a fully stocked kitchen, living room, master bedroom, a bedroom with a pull out futon, private bath and patio equipped with a gas grill. Upon our arrival, we were greeted with delicious homemade cookies. Every morning bagels or muffins, orange juice and fruit were delivered to our door. We made our own coffee on the keurig and supplied k-cups. We spent time on the veranda overlooking downtown Stuart and the river, reading books and relaxing on wicker rocking chairs. All of these features are enough to convince a person to stay here, but one of the most unique and wonderful features is the friendly atmosphere. Once you’ve interacted with the owner, Steven, and his assistant Susan, you’ll feel like this is your home away from home. They treat their guests as though they were guests in their house.

I stayed here recently while in town on business. I skipped the chain hotels for this charming inn and they did not disappoint me. The room was nicely appointed having recently been renovated. I will definitely stay here anytime I am in town.

Room Tip: The suite is wonderful.

We spent New Year's Eve last year at the Inn and decided to return this year with friends. The owner, Steve Vitale has added more rooms and a new porch on the second floor that has a wonderful view of Stuart. We had adjoining rooms in the newly remodeled building that were quite spacious and comfortable. You cannot beat this location in Stuart. All shopping, restaurants and the Lyric theater are within walking distance. Steve makes you feel right at home with a personal tour and refreshments. He has added an onsite manager since last year in case you might need anything. We highly recommend that you stay longer than one night, next time we plan to do just that.

Room Tip: All rooms are great

One night is not enough to fully appreciate the charm of this Key West style lodging! My husband and I and my daughter and her husband, in adjacent suites, all agree with previous reviewers' stellar ratings. Cleanliness and mattress comfort are very important to us, and the Inn did not disappoint. Mattresses in our two rooms were excellent, as were the pillows and linens. All aspects of our suites were spotless, including the small appliances, dishes, and bathrooms.

Once you arrive and partake of the Inn's free parking, you will not need your car again. The main streets of old downtown Stuart are outside your door. From our early afternoon arrival until we turned in for the night, the walkable streets were lively with shoppers and outdoor dining venues.

Though our room opened directly onto a side street adjacent to the main shopping/dining street, and our stay was on a Friday night, street noise was not a problem, but on this chilly late December night, our windows were closed. If you visit in warmer weather, I recommend requesting a second floor room with a balcony from which to sit and enjoy more private mornings and evenings. Yes, the Inn has Adirondack chairs just outside your door! With a cup of coffee from the K-cup in your room, plus the breakfast bagels and newspaper delivered to you door at 7:30 am, a quiet morning outdoors is the perfect way to start your day.

Other reviewers have praised Steve's personable ways, and we were equally pleased with his limeade greetings, as well as his follow-up phone call later in the day of our departure. He is truly the kind of host you'd hope for in an Inn-type experience: welcoming and accommodating, but not hovering.

I highly recommend this Inn for happy couples and extended families who enjoy a fine and personable experience!

Room Tip: Choose a second floor or courtyard facing room for more privacy from the street. There is no pool, b...

We had a large number of family stay here, some with small children. This place worked so well for us. The rooms were very nice, clean and comfortable. The owner was great, so welcoming, helpful, and patient (as is important when dealing with the needs of a large group). The location is right in the thick of things so you can walk to shopping, restaurants, and stroll the riverwalk. We ate twice at the restaurant right there (18 Seminole). The food was great and the staff were amazing. Thirty people, a few small children--no problem! I highly recommend this place.

I only stayed one night at the Old Colorado Inn. I wish I had stayed longer. The Inn itself is really charming. The building was built in 1914 an as original floors and original refurbished cabinets, in our kitchenette. The room was comfortable and nicely decorated. When we arrived, the owner greeted us, gave us a tour of the premises, offered us a limeaide from the restaurant on the premises and gave us a little history of the building. One of the best things about the Inn is the location. You can park your car and not get back in until it is time to leave. Historic Downtown Stuart consists of about 3 parallel streets lined wth shops and restaurants and the historic Lyric Theatre, all within walking distance. About 1/2 block away is a small park on the water where you can just relax with a cup of coffee and a couple of blocks away, you will find the boardwalk. Great for strolling or jogging. Breakfast of bagels and juice was hanging on the door knob when we woke up. This is a great place to go and relax! I would have liked more K-cups for the coffee maker though!

Recently I won a silent auction basket that included 1 night suite w/kitchenette at the Colorado Inn. I surprised my husband for his birthday. We were warmly greeted outside by owner Steve. With a fresh squeezed limeade in hand Steve gave a tour of the Inn, Old photos of Stuart are hung throughout. Rooms have been remodeled so tastefully & warm with such detail. Homemade cookies by Susan were yummy. Fresh bagels & OJ were delivered to our door in the morning. If you want to enjoy downtown with restaurants, shops, entertainment, theater and the St. Lucie River....this is the place to stay. Hands down! The wall unit a/c was a bit loud but all the amenities made up for it. We will be recommending to all of our friends & family. So happy Steve & his wife fell in love with this place and have turned it into a real gem!

Thank you so much for your positive review of your recent stay with us. During the renovations of the Inn, we installed new a/c-heat units in all of the rooms/suites, with the exception of the room in which you stayed. The unit in your room was in good condition at the time of the renovations, but now that we have received your feedback, we will replace that unit as well. Thank you so much for your input and we hope to have you visit us again soon.
