First, the customer service was excellent. Everyone we met from the initial inquiry on the phone until I stopped back to pick up my driver's license at the end, was professional and courteous. You need to make a reservation if you're going on a busy weekend. Thank goodness we did. We had 2 canoes for 5 people. It was $37 per canoe and you can have it until 5pm in the summer and 3pm in the winter. They say you can make it in 3 hrs but what's the rush? It took us 5 hrs. You go 5 miles down the river to Rogers Park and a van drives you back to your car.
We saw a mama and baby manatee, lots of fish, and some turtles. We took snacks and drinks and should have reapplied sunscreen every half an hour. I never burn and I burned.
Our canoe tipped over but thank goodness my husband knew how to right it back up again. However, all of our stuff got wet. We had the foresight to pack our cellphone in a sandwich baggy and it was safe. Next time, we'd just leave it in the car.
We stopped a couple of times at shallow points to swim and take a snack break. The current is 5 miles an hour but is actually very strong in certain areas. Once you pass something, it is difficult to try and canoe or swim back to it.
We'll definitely be back and I would like to try the kayaks next time.
