“Excellent meals”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

Everyone in our party enjoyed their meal, but the restaurant is in an undesirable location ( strip mall). They have done their best to make the atmosphere inside nice. Food is excellent.

“Fabulous!”
Reviewed January 12, 2013

We were greeted at the door by the owner, Gaetano, and seated promptly. The service was wonderful and the food was spectacular. Their three types of bread were so yummy. Our dinners were the best Italian food we have eaten in a long time. We moved here four months ago and were looking for a really good Italian restaurant. Salute exceeded our expectations!! We will be going back again and again and again!

“what a find”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

just a little spot in our back door. looking for a quant little spot to eat,? would never think it would be here. in a strip mall on the busy corner, but once you are inside, the attmoshphere is calming, and romantic. there is even a screened in room and an outside patio if weather permits. the service is very attentive. the bread is home made, fresh and crusty and fiiled with either meat or olives. the food was wonderful!! great sauce, large portions, fresh cheese. not your stamped out chain resturant food, but home made. the owner comes around and makes sure you are happy. not big,not too many tables, but so cozy. the only odd issue was the table for 2 is oddly very long and narrow, but we adapted, we just sat on the narrow sides!! no issue there. will definalty be back to enjoy!!

“Excellent”
Reviewed December 19, 2012

We are English tourists that happened onto this place by chance tonight and were treated to a very nice meal that the whole family enjoyed thoroughly.

Bread, salad and soups served before the main course were excellent and very familiar in taste/presentation to anyone who eats in Italian restaurants throughout Europe. One son absolutely loved the soup, the other couldn't stop eating the fresh bread (olive, salami and plain)and oil/balsamic dip. Main courses were excellent as well and more Italian American styled (huge portions and slightly more body to sauces/baked dishes than European restaurants. Also more sauce to pasta ratio). Seafood pasta was very fresh with a nice mix of prawns, scallops, squid, mussels and clams in a marinara sauce. We certainly didn't expect to find food of this quality in what is essentially a residential area.

Friendly attentive service and a couple of nice glasses of house wine topped off a very nice evening. Thanks!

“Nice Italian Restaurant - Good Food!”
Reviewed December 10, 2012

We went to Salute while visiting family in Spring Hill. They had won Hernando's "Best Italian Restaurant" for the past two years and wanted to experience the food ourselves. The ambiance is OK - nothing to write about. Is in a strip center located in Sprng Hill Drive/Mariner Boulevard. I believe the space used to be an Annie's Banana's... it is not luxurious by any means but adequate.

We visited on a Sunday night when the restaurant was not too busy. The service was very attentive and timely. There were several nightly specials that were also offered in addition to the regular menu. There was a piano player - a nice touch and added ambiance.

The warm bread served is in three flavors - regular, olive and pepperoni and is to DIE FOR. It is lightly toasted, warm and has a great flavor. I personally could make a meal out of this and a salad. Salad or soup is served with each meal, There were choices for vegetarias (but the soup had bacon in it) with plenty of pasta, veal and seafood choices. Portion size was larger than average and the food was very tasty - traitional Italia fare. Everyone enjoyed their meals and some had to take portions home - they were too full to finish.

No entree (except specials) was priced higher than $20 so there is a good value for the meal and portion size. We will probably return on subsequent visits to Spring Hill. The previous night we went to Brain's Place in Hernando Beach which I personally would recommend over Salute - just a personal preference.

The restaurant does offer nightly specials - 2 meals for $25.95 M/T/W and occasionally offers 6 course dinners with wine tastings for $75+ - a good value if you are a wine connoseur.
