My family enjoys trying the Japanese buffets and my brother suggested we go to Kyojin to celebrate his birthday. We were 8 adults and 4 kids on a Sunday night. The buffet itself looked very inviting, the sushi was good and fresh the seafood assortment was also good. The oysters were large and fresh and the crab legs very generous. The stir fry and hot food stations had a good variety as well. The most disappointing thing was the horrible service we received. It was like begging for service. But I guess since the tip was automatically added for the large party they just did not care. We had to flag them down to get anything. Water glasses were only filled once, plates were not retrieved so they just piled up. Too bad as I won't be returning. Go to Shinju instead Mamasan there treats you like family..

“Kyojin - a Feast for Sushi Lovers”
Reviewed January 2, 2012

My husband and I revisited (from last season) the Kyojin in South Miami during out visit to in December 2011. It did not disappoint. We went for a late lunch. This huge all you can eat buffet with a wide selection of fresh sushi being made constantly in front of your eyes by capable sushi chefs was delicious. The cold buffet of shrimp, mussels and a variety of salads were excellent. Hot dishes galore. I especially enjoy the grilled calamari and for dessert the green tea ice cream. You can't go away hungry and weekend nights the snow crabs are out as well. A big hit for snow crab eaters - large and meaty! Enjoy!

“Excelent food, very good price”
Reviewed October 27, 2011

The Sashimi was fresh, the Sushi rice very well prepared, clams, squid and langostinos just right. The hot plates like "fungui" and tepans, delicious. Worth going.

“Bargain Basement Pan Asian”
Reviewed September 17, 2011

If you're in a hurry and not particularly picky about your sushi, by all means eat here. I know people who go just for the raw fish on the sashimi, discarding the rice, and they are perfectly happy with Kyojin. Most everyone else we know, all of us customers since day 1, have started looking elsewhere. Why? They have about four sushi makers (obviously not real sushi chefs) hacking away behind the counter, turning out large, sloppy rolls with more of an emphasis on speed than quality. Sometimes the rice hasn't even cooled off, and a large wad of warm starch really puts a damper on the sushi experience.

The hot bar is just OK, but lately the offerings have been more starchy/greasy than tasty...not even my grease/starch deprived child who ordinarily inhales Chinese food would finish her food, and that's bad.

It seems like every Asian buffet in town opens strong and then gradually decreases in quality. Kyojin held out for longer than most, but unfortunately the result seems to be the same.

“Bang for your Buck”
Reviewed September 12, 2011

My husband and I eat here often, 1 to 3 times a month. The variety of food offered, from outstanding fresh sushi, to the hot buffet to the dessert buffet is absolutely unbeatable anywhere else in Miami for the price. The wait staff is always friendly, the restaurant is spotless and if you can't find what you want on the buffet, they have a hot grill with chef's waiting to combine your choice of ingredients to make you the perfect dish. We highly recommend Kyojin!
