“Absolutely amazing!”
Reviewed January 1, 2014

We arrived at Big Bear Lodge and were warmly greeted by the owners. We were shown to our room (Jasper) and everything about the B&B was explained to us. Excellent facilities, the room was immaculate, the bed was so comfortable & the breakfast was perfect and set us up for the day.
The hosts were approachable, friendly & made every effort to make us feel welcome and it was lovely to be able to have a real conversation with them, unlike many B&B's.
The views were picturesque. Everything about this B&B is everything you could wish for and more besides. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone! We will be visiting again, this time for longer.

Thank you for a lovely stay and happy new year!

Heather & Sam, Southport.

Stayed at the lodge 16th and 17th July this year after watching Four in a Bed. We are married couple with a young baby.
This is the best short break I have ever had mainly due to the warm and genuine couple, Mark and Rachel, who cannot do enough for you! The place is very well designed and the location is second to none.
We were that bowled over we have booked the whole lodge for a long weekend next summer and taking friends and family to enjoy the experience.
Would recommend this to young, old, family, couples and singles wanting an idyllic setting and to be spoiled by the hosts!
It's a must stay!

Stayed here for two nights Friday and Saturday. Room was very comfortable with a great wet room with shower/toilet etc. Breakfasts were superb....juice and tea or coffee, cereals and then a full English (if you chose it). The bacon was thick and perfect (not salty) and the sausages were very tasty. The view from our room was amazing. We were blessed with a beautiful sunrise and the most amazing sunset. We saw a Peregrine Falcon flying in the trees at the end of the garden and were treated to the neighbourly donkeys braying in the morning!! The main sitting area had the most wonderful log burning stove which knocked out the most unbelievable heat and would not have been amiss in a snow bound log cabin in Canada. We visited Shrewsbury and were pleasantly surprised at how nice the town was - lots of good independent shops and side streets that were full of interest. The best thing about the place were the hosts Mark and Rachel. They were interested and engaging without being intrusive. They were full of information about things to do and left me the impression that nothing was too much trouble. They were excellent hosts and without a shadow of a doubt we will be re-visiting in the future. Thank you for such a wonderful stay.

We had decided to stay with family in the area at late notice and was struggling to find somewhere to stay when we found Big Bear Lodge. The site was amazing, we arrived to be greeted by name by Mark who showed us to our canadian lodge, he was a warm and inviting host. The lodge was spacious, clean and most of all warm. The toilet block was clean and modern along with the shower. The location of Big Bear Lodge was lovely too, it felt as if you were in the middle of no where but it was easy to get around the local area. We will definately be returning in the summer months so we can make the most of the veranda as october weather wasnt great for enjoying the whole experience.

Room Tip: We stayed in the lodge nearest from the toilet block to avoid disturbance in the night from other gu...

Booked up at the Big Bear Lodge, as we were attending the Welsh round of the World Rally Championship. We usually stay in a friends motorhome, but we needed to make alternative arrangements this year. What can I say about the Big Bear Lodge ? .........................Everything was perfect. Lovely rooms, friendly hosts, great brekkie and an absolutely wonderful lodge with a wood burner and big comfy sofas. This will be our new base of operations for next year and many years after ! Give it a go, you will not be disappointed :)

Just returned from a fabulous weekend at Big Bear Lodge. Everything about the experience was excellent - really! The ambience of the lodge is superb as is the location. Great views of the hills and a truly rural setting. Mark and Rachel were exceptional hosts - friendly and helpful. Mark took us on a canoe trip, which was great fun. Despite the fact that it rained for most of the time, we had our waterproofs so we kept relatively dry. It was a brilliant weekend.
