This attraction is being renovated, while keeping its "Old Florida" charm. The glass bottom boat ride is a leisurely tour around the springs , watching the gators, water fowl, and if lucky, the wild monkeys. The boat captains are friendly and love to share their stories of the history of the area while pointing out the submerged movie artifacts left by the film industry. I could almost hear Tarzan calling around the river's bends. Not a high-paced, artificial attraction, but a relaxing afternoon enjoying an ice cream and floating the river.

Silver Springs State Park is incredibly beautiful. We took the glass bottom boat ride in the Fall, while the weather was cooler. I was just mesmerized by the crystal clear, blue water. The guide was very knowledgeable about the springs, the history of the park and the flora and fauna of the area. I want to go back in the summer with hopes of seeing manatee and perhaps even a gator. Walking through the park is such a pleasure, such beauty. If you are in the area, this is a must see attraction.

Beautiful place to see nature. Crystal clear springs. Kayaking was amazing. Go in the morning so you can see the amazing wildlife like the monkey families and the gators. No worries, they do not mess with you. The park is huge and many walking trails. Lots of fun for the whole family.

The other areas of Ocala can get you away from civilization, but Silver Springs is right in the heart of development. For those looking for gardens and glass bottom boats, this is perfect. For those looking for "getting away", this is not it.

We took two of our granddaughters for a day visit to the park. Day was "Florida pleasant" along the Spanish moss laden tree walk from the parking lot to the concession/attraction area. There were not a lot of visitors on the day of our visit which brought to mind that in the not too distant past this was a major Florida attraction. The State is upgrading the Park which hopefully will attract more visitors. The staff was great, and very knowledgeable. I loved hearing about some of the movies of my youth being filmed ther, i.e. Tarzan movies, Esther Williams films, and some scenes from the Creature of the Black Lagoon, The Glass-Bottomed Boat tour is well worth it, and beautifully, and amazingly reminds us of the majesty of nature. Look forward to visiting again, soon.
