We love this lovely place, the Hotel,The Beach,The Whole Area. We love spending summer vacation here, 2010 will be our third year here. We live on the East coast o Florida and have found Thropical Shores Beach Resort the best value and Cresent Beach the perfect beach to relax at.

It is fantastic to read another great review and look forward to welcoming back our guests in the future! We would like to let our guests know that photos on our web site are very specific and accurate to the individual room types offered. We encourage our guests to call the resort directly to help with reservations and ensure that the specific room type being reserved meets your expectations! All of our accommodations are fun, updated, and well maintained with many options to select from! As aways, we thank all of our guests for writing in and posting reviews! Thanks for the great feedback!

Just returned from an Easter week at Tropical shores. We really enjoyed our stay. We found the staff to be very helpful, the resort clean and the rooms very comfortable. Our room did not look as updated as the ones in the photo’s but it was clean, had a flat screen tv and a mini kitchen that was in good working order. The location and accessibility to the beach and pools were terrific! The resort had a very tropical feel with all the beautiful palm trees and even space to BBQ in a shared outdoor space. Over all the resort was very quiet and perfect for families or couples alike. We did visit some of the other resorts and preferred Tropical Beach Shores to the others! The location is just outside of the crazy area of the island but within a short walk to restaurants, shops and night spots. We would definitely come back again and really, really enjoyed it.

Sara Sea is one of several very small motel-like resorts on a small stretch of road next to the beach. The entire resort was one U-shaped block of rooms with a common area (with grass, lawn chairs, and a barbecue area) in the center. Each of the several motels looked pretty much like this. There was a pool, shuffleboard courts, and a cute trail to the beach, which is really not a far walk at all.
The rooms were lovely and clean, with kitchens and modern updates, but they were quite small. If you plan to actually spend time in your room, you may want to pay up for a bigger place.
The staff were all incredibly nice, with the exception of one woman in the office, whose name I don't know. They don't have anyplace to hold bags for you once you check out; although they agreed to hold our bag, as checkout was at 10am and our flight wasn't until 7pm, it was clear this was the exception to the rule.
There are no views from the rooms at all, except out onto the courtyard in the center of the "U", but to be fair, they make this pretty clear on their website. They offer free beach chairs, but they're pretty uncomfortable. If you want an umbrella or better chairs, you have to pay ($20 a day for two chairs and 1 umbrella).
Restaurants and food shopping are all within walking distance, but Siesta Village is over a 2 mile walk, as is Ophelia's (in the other direction), one of the better restaurants on the island, so you'll need a cab. And there is no cab company on the island; they come over from Sarasota, so call way in advance of when you need the car.
Javier's is also a pretty good restaurant, which is right across the street. No restaurant or room service at the hotel, though they do accept delivery from a pizza place across the street (which serves more than pizza).
We were only there for 2 days, as we just wanted to get away for a weekend, and that was great. But had we planned a week-long vacation, this would've grown a bit too small with not enough to do nearby very quickly. Also, at this price point, you don't get much. Considering you could stay at a big chain (Hilton, Marriott, etc) for the same price and get many more amenities, the value was probably not the best. But, there are no big chain options on Siesta Key, so if this is where you want to be, this is probably a good option. Be advised, though the beach is beautiful, it is extremely crowded and overrun with children. Overall, a perfectly good stay with no major complaints. Not fabulous, but not bad.

It is always great to receive positive feedback from another recent guest. We love to hear our guests found their accommodations to be lovely, clean, with modern updates! It’s great to know our guests had a great weekend and found the beach to be as beautiful as ever! There is no question that this time of year (Spring break) the beaches are very busy and there are definitely a lot of happy families on the beach. The good news for all our future travelers… season ends next week! It’s much less active and the rates become much for attractive during the off-season. As much as we were very pleased to read the staff was incredibly helpful, we have contacted this guest directly to find out what happened that she felt that a team member on the front desk did not meet her expectations. We truly are committed to giving exceptional guest service and ensure our guests that we are committed to making their stay as fantastic as possible! Also, we have a great relationship with a local taxi company and the typical wait time does not exceed 10-15 minutes. We do find that during spring break, however, the taxis are slower moving due to the traffic and escalated calls. Typically, cab service is stress-free and we are always happy to call a cab for any of our guests! Keeps the feedback coming! We love to hear from our guests!

Sara Sea is difficult to describe. Modest expectations will be met. Don't think beach resort, more like motor lodge approx. 100 yards from the beach. It is located amongst a confusing patchwork of hotels that share a common boardwalk to the beach. We stayed in a 1-bedroom suite with our teenage daughter.
Positives:
Courtyard areas are nicely landscaped- plenty of areas to sit and relax
Beach towel exchange and complimentary use of beach chairs were a nice touch
Small kitchen was modern and convenient for beach vacation
Siesta Key beach is heavenly
Negatives:
No views whatsoever- we had a corner room with 3 views- a fence, the ice machine, and the parking lot. If you want a room with a view, this is not the place for you.
Smallest bathroom ever- It was an engineering marval to get a toilet, shower and sink into such a small space!
Recreation options (not counting the beach) were a throwback to the 50's- one modest pool and shuffleboard.
Office closes at 10P which makes for a very impersonal late arrival

Overall, for $300/night we were mildly disappointed. That being said, there were definitely funkier places nearby and good weather and a great beach made for a pleasant stay.

As much as we are happy to read that a pleasant stay was enjoyed and that our guests had good weather to take advantage of the beach we are and are sorry to read that our guests left feeling "mildly disappointed." It's our goal to make our guests feel excited to be on Siesta Key and want to come back to Sara Sea when they return. We encourage our guests to review our website for recreational options which include two pools, aqua sport rentals, volleyball, shuffleboard, and tiki hut BBQ grills, with several nice restaurants and shops within walking distance. We are always appreciative for the comments and feedback of all of our guests and are always working towards ways to exceed expectations.

We enjoyed our three night stay at this hotel. My sons loved the easy walk to the beach. We also loved being able to rent a cabana hood and beach chairs as the weather was pretty breezy during our stay. The kids could run out and play, then come back behind the cabana. The pool is also heated -- which made things pleasant as it was too cold to swim in the ocean. There were plenty of beach toys to borrow -- but you have to ask about them. It was convenient having washer/dryer access also. The hotel room was fine -- nothing fancy, but everything you need. The beds were among the most comfortable that I've seen at a hotel. The maid service was just a little uneven. One day the beds were made up as if we had just arrived -- the next day they were put together with part of the pillows and just thrown together like a child had made them. Regardless, we really enjoyed this hotel.
