“Perfect place and great staff!”
Reviewed March 9, 2010

We've been going to Siesta Key for 3 years and finally found the perfect place to stay!

This is it! Many extras, including free WiFi. The rooms and staff are exemplary!

We stayed st the SaraSea hotel which is part of the Tropical Shores Resorts complex. the sarasea was very cute (we had the smallest of the 3 types of rooms) and our room was updated and very clean. we had a small kitchenette in the room, a large comfy bed and a nice updated bathroom. I might pay the extra money to upgrade to the next size up for a room category as our room was comfy but definitely very small.
The sarasea is more on the 'quiet' end of the key, not right in siesta key village which is quite busy. I actually liked our location better, there was less traffic to contend with and we still had restaurants and stores within walking distance.
The beaches are as great as everyone says, we spent a day at the hotel beach (crescent) and then went to the public beach on another day and both were amazing though the public beach was bigger and nicer.
Overall I liked our choice of hotels very much and would recommend to anyone.

The renovations at Tropical Beach Resorts are clean and modern. Honestly, the reason I choice this place was the proximity to the beach and the fact that they provided beach towels!! This place met and exceeded our expectations. I couldn't believe all that was included in the room: every kitchen utensil you could imagine right down to a hand juicer! I appreciated the bottle of laundry detergent as well--the attention to the small details as to what would be helpful/important to guests didn't go unnoticed or unappreciated! Thank you to the owners/managers for al the thought and care you've put into your resort! We were travelling with our two young sons, ages 2 and 5, and flying in/out of Orlando. Our first part of our trip was on the east coast, staying with family. This was our little treat! There is a first come/first served area near the laundry facilities where you can grab beach chairs and toys to use as well. We stayed in a Sarasea King Boutique room in April of 2009 and are going back in April 2010, this time staying in a Sun Sandpiper King. We spent our days on the beach, and went back after dinner to watch the amazing sunset every night...we can't wait to return in a couple of months!

My only regret is not booking a longer stay. The room was clean and comfortable, and although small (we stayed in one of the Hideaway rooms) it had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable and our room was in the back so had a very private patio where we could sit and share a bottle of wine in the evenings. The tropical plants and palm trees added to the private, lush feel. The location was wonderful...literally a minute or less picturesque walk to the beach yet also walking distance to several good restaurants as well as a small grocery store. And the price was just fantastic for the value that we got. Can't wait to go back!

Love this place! It was more like an apartment than a hotel. There was a small kitchen with a stove/oven, microwave and stocked with pots and dishes and utensils. Dining table, couch, flat screen TV and the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on. Very clean! I love the table and chairs right outside the room. The pool was warm and clean. It isn't directly on the beach but it's only a two minute walk down the path. A little spendy but very, very worth it!

I'm from the panhandle of FL and last year we went to Siesta Key for the first time. After a stressful and unproductive search trying to find a property (that appealed to me) with a view of the actual beach, we ended up at Sara Sea Resort. The price was so reasonable that I didn't think the place would impress me much (I'm pretty picky) but I was taken aback at how nice the room was when we arrived. As expected, this is an old 50's style motel that has been totally gutted and redone into lovely spacious suites complete with kitchens.

Since I can't eat gluten I like to stay where I can eat least have b'fast in the room. Last year Island Gluten Free Bakery was across the street from Sara Sea but the bakery recently moved to near the Granary on the bridge. Anyway, it was wonderful to be able to enjoy fresh muffins and doughnut holes each day during our stay. We had a two room suite so the bedroom was separate from the living space. The only downside to this room for us was the small shower. My husband has long arms and the shower was just too small for him to be comfortable. It's my understanding that a couple of rooms at this location do have larger showers. Even so, we decided to stay at Tropical Sun during our visit later this year in order to be sure we get the larger shower/tub combo.

Probably because we travel down there right after the tourist season ends, we feel we are getting a steal at this resort. It's a couple of minutes from the most gorgeous beach in FL, quiet and the staff is friendly and very helpful. For us that adds up to a perfectly lovely relaxing trip! Wish we could go twice a year!!!

SaraSeaResort, Dawn Van Lanen, General Manager at Tropical Beach Resorts, responded to this review, March 31, 2010
We are always glad to see that we received a “5 rating,” on cleanliness and sleep quality and that our guests found the rooms to be nicely decorated. We can appreciate and agree that rates in the resort industry are higher during the winter months which are considered to be the “peak season.” We also would agree that the “hideaway,” is the smallest of all room types offered and it is described as the coziest of the three room types, a small but stylish space for singles or couples. The “hideaway,” is an intimate accommodation that cleverly incorporates a full state of the art kitchen in its step-saving design. We also offer a “boutique,” and “destination suite,” which are significantly larger. We do understand that season is a more expensive time of year to travel. We encourage our guests to review our website for exact descriptions and photos of our accommodations and amenities, of the Sara Sea Resort and call us directly to help select the very best accommodations that will exceed your expectations. We are always appreciative of the fact that people take the time to post reviews to share their experiences on trip advisor!

The Sara Sea is one of three refurbished motels in Siesta Key owned by the same group. All of the motels are in a cul-de-sac area near the beach, along with several other motels and some timeshare condo units. The rooms in the Sara Sea have been well renovated, with attractive furnishings and nice art on the walls. Our room had a large kitchen area and a very very small bathroom, which seems to be the opposite of what most travelers would want. The bathroom sink did not have a counter-top surround and there was only one small glass shelf on which to place toiletries. The bed had a very soft mattress, the room refrigerator was quite loud and the light outside the door was on all night and shone into the room, which made sleeping difficult. The staff are helpful and anxious to please, but this is not a true resort and the website 'hype' can be misleading. Read all of the reviews carefully before making reservations so that you won't be disappointed.
