This restaurant is located in a strip mall. We did not have a reservation when we arrived, and only had to wait a short while for a table. We went to the "four person" bar and had a cocktail while we waited. The hostess was very friendly and our server started out that way, but she got a bit preoccupied as the our dinner went on. We just had a few apps-baked onion soup, which was cheesy, but bland. Mussels that were in some sort of sauce that didn't compliment them. They could have used some lemon and garlic. We had a table-side ceasar for two (that is the only way to get it ( $16.00). That was very good. The entrees around us didn't look very special. A basic chicken, fish, etc.

We ran over to Miguels after checking in at the Tropical Shores across the street to catch the early bird special. Missed it, but the regular prices were so good - most under $20 that it was fine. We ordered a couple of the fish dishes and were blown away by the quality of the preparation. Limited wine list, but the house wine was very tasty. Loved it.

My wife and I dined here twice during our recent stay in Siesta Key. The first time we went because the restaurant received good reviews here and it was a short walk from our hotel. We were very impressed. The décor is very warm and inviting. The food is what I would term "bistro" fare - no "inventive" dishes, but classic dishes done well. We had the escargot, "House Shrimp" (Les Crevettes de la Maison), Veal Oscar and Seafood "Vent" (after "vol-au-vent" - a dish cooked in puff pastry). All were simply excellent. The complimentary amuse bouche of vegetables and a couple of different spreads was terrific, and the garlic bread was to die for. Our server was attentive, but unobtrusive, and dishes arrived perfectly timed, even though the restaurant was extremely busy. To top it off, the bill was much less than one would pay at some run-of-the mill restaurants in Sarasota. We resolved to return.

The return trip was mildly disappointing, not because the food was bad - it wasn't, but rather because the entrees and their sides were not hot when they arrived. This was surprising because the restaurant was less busy than it was during our first visit. Without knowing for sure, I suspect the problem was that my wife and I ordered the Caesar Salad, which was prepared tableside and was wonderful, but which took our busy server some time to prepare. I wonder if the tableside prep may have thrown the timing off a bit in the kitchen, given that our server was also trying to take care of other tables. This little hiccup on the second trip is the only reason I did not give this establishment an "excellent" rating.

We happened upon this restaurant in siesta Key across from our hotel and what a find! Florida is known for their restaurants in strip malls and this is one not to be missed. The owner greeted us and was very pleasant to us as we were seated. She shared the history of the place and how her children now dook and run the business with her. Their have a delicious garlic bread and small plate of pate with crudites which was delighful! My has who loves garlic tried the garlic soup and it was very good. The meals are well priced and we both took home leftovers and we were starved when we arrived! He had the Duck which he stated was one of the best he's had and I had the trio of seafood and it wa equally as good. Our waiter was very skilled an firendly and we would definely go bac khere whe n we visit again!

This family restaurant is hidden in the corner of small strip mall. It is well known to its neighbours and for good reason. Seventy dollars bought three courses and a glass of wine for two. Every thing as very good. The French onion soup is recommended. Reservations essential.
