In the heart of "season", parking at Siesta Public beach can be a real challenge. While the white "sugar sand" there gives it huge appeal, Turtle Beach about 6 miles to the south is a quiet, less crowded and less developed alternative. The sand is tan and rather ordinary, the beach is not as broad, there are no lifeguards, and the rest rooms are a good block walk to the east. But the water is still the Gulf of Mexico and this beach is a favorite of locals.
