We had been told by friends, that we "had to get ice cream at Big Olaf's". So we did. And it was good, but nothing different than you would get at a UDF. They do have a big selection of flavors, but the ice cream is just that........ice cream. Good ice cream, way overpriced. And, yes, the cash only thing is a pain. It's 2014, not many people carry cash around.

This is a must try if you stay in Siesta Key or are nearby. Many flavors to choose from and delicious!

There seems to be signs out front that I missed, but it's a cash only business. Don't worry they have their own ATM that charges $2.00 and a $20.00 minimum.
The ice cream was nothing special. It's overpriced ice cream.
Our cashier was a bit rude when I discovered it was cash only. " Well there are big signs out front."
Ummm... No just this little printed one.
The name caught my daughters attention (she is 5).
Next time walk right by.

We loved the ice cream at Big Olaf. The scoops were large and the flavors were not run of the mill. The prailene pecan was outstanding, as was the bing cherry.

The bathrooms were clean and well stocked.

There was plenty of inside seating in air conditioned comfort.

We loved our stop here.

They were not really customer friendly. We wanted two flavors without having a mound of ice cream, but they would not split the scoops for you. Not as creamy as the ice cream that we had while at Clearwater beach as well as not as many flavors. Wished we would have went for the gelato instead.
