Fabulous for all ages as water slopes gently from shore. Pure, white sand. Every year they have a Sand Castle Tournament that is out of this world. Good parking facilities and snack shacks with a long, long and wide expanse of beach. Love it!

I just read that Siesta Beach has been rated #2 in the U.S. I can only agree with/fortify that rating. We Live in San Diego, CA and visit relatives in Siesta Key on a regular basis. We take our daily walks on Siesta Beach and, in our opinion, it is the finest beach anywhere. It is flat, clean and beautiful. One thing seldom mentioned that is important - Siesta Beach is one of very few comprised of crushed quartz. Not only is it a beautiful muted white color, but is very fine and soft and DOES NOT absorb heat. That phenomenon is unique to very few beaches. In San Diego, our beaches are light brown sand and when the temperature is in the 80's, the sand will scorch your bare feet very quickly. On Siesta Beach, even if the temperature is in the high 90's, the quartz sand is always cool on your feet - really nice when you're walking the beach on a hot day.

What they say (positive) about the really cool beach at Siesta Key is very true. The Sand (quartz) is super white and soft. Once you get closer to the waters edge it's packed down so those who enjoy exercise walking have a perfect place to do it on.
It takes about 40 minutes to walk (one way) from the village (old fishing pier) end to the end at crescent beach. During peak season it's a little difficult walking the stretch at the "public beach" area as there are zillions of people there.
At the "public beach" area they have numerous activities at different times as well as volleyball and tennis areas available.
Nice beach and well maintained with periodic patrols by the Sheriff's on atv's.
Not supposed to smoke around others and no dogs allowed which is ok with me.

Why is everyone on Siesta Key Beach smiling?
It's quite obvious they are all enjoying themselves in so many ways.
One weekend there was a wonderful wedding on the beach and the "watchers" were having as much enjoyment as the invited guests.

My wife and i "randomly" stopped by on our way home to Missouri from Miami and it was WELL WORTH THE STOP. The beach is a thing of BEAUTY. Beautiful soft pristine powdery white sand like no other i have seen. The beach is HUGE and seems to slowly blend right into the turquoise waters of the Gulf. It has a great family oriented vibe to it with "normal" people walking around unlike South Beach which is more of a party palace. I found out from a local that it was named "BEST BEACH IN AMERICA" last three years straight.LOVED IT!!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!! WILL RETURN!!!!!!
