Went to this restaurant with friends, was informed by our server that the early bird special was still available, which was Smothered Roast Beef. We proceeded to order the special, and after a wait of about 20 minutes a waiter appeared with two grilled chicken breast. Not having ordered chicken we remarked that our order was for the Roast Beef and therefore sent the two plates back. Shortly thereafter the waiter came back with the two plates of chicken and informed us that they had run out of roast beef 'hours ago', and if we would accept the chicken. Now, I am certain that there must be a big price differential between chicken and roast beef, but who in their right mind would assume we would accept the chicken instead of the roast beef without even asking us. We refused the chicken and asked to speak to a manager (our original waitress, although floating around the room never came to give us an explanation of what was going on). The manager came a few short minutes later to explain that they had run out of roast beef earlier in the afternoon and that now the special was chicken breast. We asked her why were we not informed of this fact on a timely basis, and were just left in the dark and tried to push something which was unilaterally decided upon by someone in the back. We got up and left the restaurant and proceeded to go next door to a Chilis where we had a great dinner and were treated royally. As for Cody's Roadhouse, they will never see the brown of my eyes again, ever.
