Ok place however the location is a little aged. Clean friendly but updating and a better breakfast would go a long way. Plenty of parking Staff was helpful? Not as close to the action and the beach as I would have wanted.

The place was so dirty. Walking in, windows in front lobby were dirty. They put us in room which resonated with dog urine. Switched us to another room. We left keys in that room as we moved to next room. They called us at 2:30 AM asking where keys were. We told them we left them in the room and they told us to go get them. At 2:30 and we can’t get in room and why can’t you get them?! They put us in a room where the toilet ran continuously. Next morning told front desk person so she could request maintenance. Came back later that day and it wasn’t fixed. “Maintenance gone for the day”. She had forgot to put in request. No toner in printer to print boarding passes. Huge dogs in lobby. Horrible hotel. Wouldn’t even let my dog stay there. Unfortunately tainted my view on La Quinta, which I have always enjoyed.

This hotel is in serious need of update and renovation. I wrongly assumed that la Quinta would have upgraded it when they took over. Bad assumption. Room furnishing should be thrown away and replaced from scratch

The breakfast choices were minimal. Bathroom fixtures were broken. Hair in shower upon arrival. Sofa in my suite was ratty, had a vinyl covering on the base and the back pillow was ragged. Plywood in front sliding door, no glass. Light in the stairwell was out. Key had to be inserted 3 or 4 times to open my door. Front counter person had little interest in my questions. I had a lot of hotel choices on 41 and would not make this one again.

We booked a Bayview King Bed Suite (as described on the website) and we were looking forward to having a view of Sarasota Bay from our window.

Imagine our great disappointment when we discovered the Bayview suites did not have a view of the bay. Instead we had a view of the swimming pool and carpark.

We checked with the receptionist who agreed it was misleading. In our view describing the room as Bayview is blatantly deceptive, In reality it meant not on the road side. Where we come from the word “view” means the ability to see something.

In addition the state of our room was unsatisfactory for a number of reasons:

1. One of the closet doors would not close at all, it jammed every time you tried to pull it shut. The other door was missing its handle and the paintwork was very dirty.

2. The suitcase rack was unusable as it tipped over when you tried to put a suitcase on it.

3. We found the broken off end of a water shutoff valve just lying on the counter top inside the door.

4. The lid of the hot water dispenser was missing and when trying to make two cups of tea discovered there was only one cup and no milk.

All-in-all, the room looked really shabby.

We mentioned it to the receptionist in the morning but she did not seem interested. We emailed the hotel management but received no response. We did get a reply from La Quinta head office but it was just a standard boilerplate response with no attempt to address our concerns.

This was our first visit to a La Quinta and will probably be our last if they are all kept in this condition.

Room tip: Rooms on the so called "bayview" side are quieter but there is no bay view
