The best thing about this place is the service. The employees obviously love their jobs and it shows. Every person we came in contact with had a big smile, greeting and remembered our names!! The room had a great view of the Gulf, the housekeeper kept our room very clean, and the beach was kept impeccable by the staff. We had a great time and would not hesitate to come back and/or recommend to friends.

My family and I booked 2 rooms at the Helmsley Sandcastle after having a hard time trying to find a beachfront hotel on Lido Key. Their website really does a nice job of describing the hotel, including the pictures.

When we arrived at the hotel, we upgraded our reservation to a gulf front room for $30/night. It was well worth the extra cost. You can watch unbelievable sunsets from your balcony.

Two observations you may want to be aware of: The rooms do need some updating as wallpaper is buckling in places. The air conditioning and heat are controlled at the front desk. Our first day we were without air conditioning, but it was turned on the next day, and worked very well once it was turned on. You are able to control the temperature in the room, depending upon if the heat or air is on.

The beach property is one of the best I've been to. There are lots of shells to find, and if you walk the beach early in the morning, you can find very large shells and sand dollars.

The food at the restaurants was terrific. We ate nearly every meal at the hotel. The breakfast buffet was especially good, and worth the price (under $10/person). We enjoyed eating outside for each meal.

The Helmsley is a place you could arrive at, and not leave for the entire duration of your vacation. It has everything you need. My family is planning on returning to this hotel again next year as we all enjoyed it very much.

I went with my family, wife and two kids (11 and 7). Stayed on the fourth floor ocean view / corner room. View was great and pool was fun. Kelley was great at the pool bar, and she even cried when our family had to leave. Weather started out cool/windy but ended better 75-82 degrees. Hotel could use some upgrades on the outside, but the inside rooms were good size and clean. all staff was great. A bad policy is that they charge the guests of the resort $2 dollars for using a beach chair. For this money per night you should definitely get a complim. chair. Overall good time and liked the beach house rest. the best.
