We stayed here over the busy Easter Break week. The hotel was full most of the nights we stayed here. I was concerned over some of the reviews I had read, but I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived. I found the staff slightly stressed over the number of people in line when we checked in, but overall very nice.
Our room was on the 4th floor overlooking the bay side and it was very clean. The carpet and bedding is great and while the furniture is slightly dated, it had a very "Florida" feel. The beds were very comfortable, excellent linens, 4 great pillows stacked on each bed, and we had great sleeps. (The beds actually reminded me of the "heavenly beds" at other hotels.) There was a big flat screen TV with cable and an outdoor porch, which is great. The bathroom was small, but very clean.
We had to call for service one night because our porch door lock was not working and they came promptly to fix it. Another guest mentioned parking was bad for an SUV, I disagree, we have an SUV never had any problem parking or finding a spot, and the hotel was full.
While the area to sit around the pool is small, there are plently of chairs, a nice little bar to order from and the pool itself was great. My kids enjoyed swimming there after a day in the salt water.
Just across the road is access to the beautiful beach. It's a smaller street, so not an issue at all. We have children 8 and 10 so I crossed with them, but considering it was the busiest week, it was no problem and I don't see it as an issue. The beach is beautiful, full of shells to pick and miles to walk.
There were not always enough chairs and umbrellas for all guests, but I imagine it's hard to stock up for Easter week. They provide towels which is a huge plus. Just bring an old flat sheet to lay down and use the towels, it works great.
The best part is the ability to walk to St. Armands Circle. It's about 3 blocks (4 min.) and you have great shopping, restaurants and ice cream! We walked there multiple times everyday.
Again, I was very pleased with our stay and I would stay there again next year. Unless you expect a 5 star hotel at 5 star prices, you will not be disappointed. This is a very nice mid-range hotel.
