The good across from the beach. This hotel is under going renovation. The rooms are done. A modest renovation at best. large rooms but no microwave!!! The service was great. The rates room rates are high. Does meet IHG standards.

Room Tip: Near everything.

Yes - the work continues at the Holiday Inn Lido Beach. We hope to have our dining room completed before the end of the year, and the lobby early 2016. We do not have microwaves in our guest rooms, but do have them available at no charge upon request. We regret that you were no so informed of this service. We look forward to showing all our guests something really special when it is completed.

We had stayed at this hotel before and especially liked the Restaurant overlooking Lido Beach. Rooms are not cheap. Went on the website and booked. When we arrived the whole of the front of the hotel and the restaurant were undergoing major renovation, there had been no mention of this on the website. Our tariff included breakfast and we were told that we could only have this as room service. As members of the Holiday Inn Rewards Scheme we usually automatically get an upgrade, here we didn't get it so we asked for a sea view room. The room was very clean with an excellent view but no where to eat our room service breakfast unless we balanced it on our laps on the balcony. There was only one chair in the room. Not very satisfactory for the cost of the stay. We were disappointed. The hotel did ask us for feedback which we have given but got no response, probably because it was not positive feedback. The one thing you cannot fault is the location, a 5 minute walk from St Armands Circle. Hopefully when the renovations are completed the hotel will return to the standard expected.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view

Thank you for your feedback and for being a repeat visitor to our hotel. We assure you and all our guests that every effort to inform of the ongoing renovations is being made. We plan to be completed with this phase of the work, which is the most intrusive, by the end of January 2016. We do hope you return and enjoy a renovation free visit.

First off the hotel has a good location overlooking the gulf and if you get a beach view room then the sunsets over the sea are fantastic. It is within walking distance of St Armands Circle and there are some fantastic beaches and other interesting things in the local area.
The Rooms have recently been rennovated and were in good condition, nicely decorated and with new furniture but be warned that not all rooms have a safe so if you want one check when you book! The Bathrooms are also a good standard.
Now the down side: We arrived to find half of the carpark filled with construction containers and the front entrance closed. The Reception is a converted room and there is plasterboard sectioning off the rest of the ground floor with a notice saying the bar area is closed whilst under rennovations. This instantly started alarm bells ringing but we booked in anyway and made our way up in the lift to our room. There are notices up in the lift to say the seventh floor restaurant is also closed so you have the luxury of requesting room service with a limited choice menu so that you can have a relaxing meal watching your television in your room! We didn't go on holiday to have our meals in our bedroom! Previous reviews of this hotel have raved about the dining room experience overlooking the bay and enjoying the sunset but we didn't see any of it, even breakfast had to be taken in your room. The Builders are also constructing a bar at the pool area so half of it is sectioned off, there they were mixing cement when we went down to look for a sun lounger, no thanks!
The Reception Staff don't say anything at all about the renovations, presumably they have had their fill of furious guests who are outraged about the situation they have been left in. They smile sweetly and say that you should come back once the renovations have been finished as it will be lovely if you complain. We were there for 9 nights and saw a number of other disappointed guests apart from ourselves and honestly the way we have been treated we will never darken the doors of a Holiday Inn again.
They must have had such a large scale rennovation planned for a long time so not to advise people who have booked months in advance is an absolute disgrace on behalf of Holiday Inn.

Room Tip: Beach view rooms are the only way to go but I wouldn't go unless building work is finished.

We want to assure you and all our guests that every available source open to us to inform you of this highly disruptive phase of our renovations has been taken. IHG is aware, as are all travel booking sites, as well as information provided to all travel agencies via the central reservations system. We are certainly trying to eliminate any surprises for our guests. We forecast to have the dining room available by the end of the year, and the lobby renovations completed sometime mid January 2016.
We understand completely the value of your vacation time, and do apologize that you were not correctly informed prior to your arrival.

The staff were very friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. The location is very convenient to St. Armand's Circle.
As others have said they are under major renovation so there is no lobby, restaurant or bar. We were not informed of this prior to arriving. But our biggest complaint is we booked this hotel using our reward points, 40,000 points a night (80,000 points)so not cheap and were given a second floor room facing the parking lot. It would have been nice to have been treated a little better since we have obliviously stayed numerous times at Holiday Inn's to have accumulated enough points for this stay. I probably wouldn't stay here again.

We do apologize that you were not better informed of the renovations. We have certainly made IHG and IHG Rewards aware of the current construction and limited amenities at the hotel at this time. We suggest contacting IHG guest relations in regards to your concerns, as they take appropriate steps to address your concern.

My family had 7 rooms booked for the second year to celebrate Thanksgiving together at the Holiday Inn at St. Pete. We were here last year and it worked wonderfully for our family, especially since one in our party is handicapped. We spend a lot of time together at breakfast & in the lobby restaurant visiting since we travel from various parts of the country. NEVER was it mentioned that there was construction in BOTH restaurants. We found out only because we called to make reservations for Thanksgiving dinner. We were told we could order room service for our meals. We would have been miserable not having a central place to visit with family inside the hotel. I find this unacceptable & we moved down the street, probably not ever returning. I believe it's the hotels responsibility to let guests know if the hotel is under SERIOUS renovation that affects both restaurants & the lobby.

Thank you. We are the Holiday Inn on Lido Beach, just outside of Sarasota, Florida. We are currently under renovation, with the final phase addressing the public spaces, including the dining room, lobby and lobby bar area under major construction. We assure you that we are making every possible effort to inform our guests, via social media, IHG websites, and especially Tripadvisor. We regret that you were not more completely informed.
